1. ISI, Rangers men removed over IG issue

• In a rare move, the Pakistan Army on November 10, 2020 announced removal of officers of the premier Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and Pakistan Rangers, Sindh, from their current assignments after finding them acting `overzealously` in the alleged kidnapping of the provincial police chief that had caused `misunderstanding between two institutions`.
• The inquiry took less than three weeks to complete after Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa vowed to look into the matter following complaints from the opposition parties and police officers` en masse request for long leave in protest against the alleged kidnapping of the Sindh IG


2. Govt approves Rs1,650 wheat support price

• The federal cabinet on Tuesday fixed Rs1,650 as minimum support price of 40kg wheat and decided to rationalise overall subsidies to benefit deserving people in the country.
• `The new support price of Rs1,650 per 40kg wheat to farmers would be beneficial to both masses as well as farmers,` said Information Minister Shibli Faraz in a post-cabinet meeting press conference.
• It was informed in the Economic Coordination Committee that the government would have to bear Rs90 billion to Rs105bn as subsidy cost on wheat by fixing Rs1,650 as minimum support price of the commodity


3. Punjab Assembly lawmakers unite to condemn blasphemous sketches

• The Punjab Assembly on November 10, 2020 unanimously adopted a resolution condemning publication of blasphemous caricatures and French President Emmanuel Macron for his provocative statement.
• The House witnessed chaos for the second consecutive day as legislators from across the political divide resorted to sloganeering. No significant business could be taken on Private Members Day as pandemonium forced the chair to adjourn the proceedings.
• The session started two and half an hour behind the scheduled time with Speaker Ch Parvez Elahi in the chair.


4. Pakistan-Russia special forces joint exercise continues

• Pak-Russian Federation Special Forces joint exercise DRUZHBA-V continues at Tarbela, according to the media wing of the military.
• An Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) directorate press release issued November 10, 2020 said that the participating troops were busy in practicing counter-terrorism drills and procedures, rappelling and preparations for sky diving.
• It further said that sports activities are also part of the exercise. The joint exercises are reflective of the growing bilateral military ties between the two countries


5. Iran`s FM arrives in Islamabad on two-day visit

• Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif on November 10, 2020 arrived here on a two-day visit, which Pakistan`s foreign ministry said would help in deepening bilateral cooperation and developing a better understanding of each other`s perspective on regional issues.
• Mr Zarif is accompanied by senior officials, including Iran`s special envoy for Afghanistan Mohammad Ibrahim Taheriyan.


6. Palestinian negotiator Erekat dies after contracting Covid-19

• Palestinian veteran negotiator Saeb Erekat died on Tuesday of coronavirus complications at age 65, in a death mourned as a `great loss` for his people and sparking tributes from around the world.
• Erekat was a long-time architect of plans to end the conflict with Israel through the creation of an independent Palestinian state, a goal he would not live to see achieved.
• Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas called the passing of `a brother and friend..


7. UK govt suffers parliamentary defeat over Brexit bill

• The British government suffered a fresh Brexit setback in parliament late on November 10, 2020 over controversial legislation that would have allowed it to override parts of the country`s EU divorce treaty.
• Members of the unelected upper chamber House of Lords rejected key provisions of the Internal Market Bill, which is designed to regulate trade between all four UK nations.


8. UK expert sees multiple virus vaccines early next year

• A leading scientific adviser to the British government said November 10, 2020 he expects several coronavirus vaccines to have been approved by early 2021, allowing life to begin to return to normal.
• John Bell, professor of medicine at Oxford University, told lawmakers that Monday’s announcement by US pharmaceutical giant Pfizer that its vaccine candidate was effective in treating patients was likely just the start.


9. Usman spins Pakistan to T20 series sweep over hapless Zimbabwe

• Leg-spinner Usman Qadir wreaked havoc against the hapless Zimbabwe batsmen with a four-wicket haul before Pakistan completed a 3-0 whitewash of their Twenty20 International series at the Pindi Cricket Stadium on November 10, 2020.
• The final match of Zimbabwe`s limited-overs tour which included a three-match One-day International won 2-1 by Pakistan proved to be a one-sided affair as Pakistan maintained their unbeaten run in T20 Internationals over Zimbabwe with the eight-wicket drubbing of the visitors being their14th on the trot.


10. Babar named Test captain for tough New Zealand tour

• Prolific batsman Babar Azam has been appointed as the 30th captain of the Pakistan Test team, in place of twice tested Azhar Ali, and his first assignment will be to lead the team on the tough forthcoming tour of New Zealand.
• `Babar Azam has been appointed as Pakistan Test captain, which now makes him the captain across all three formats. His first assignment will be to captain Pakistan in the ICC World Test Championship fixtures against New Zealand, which will be pl aye d in Mount Maunganui and Christchurch from 26-30 December and 3-7 January, respectively,` the Pakistan Cricket Board announced on Tuesday
