6. Ukrainians advance, front falls silent as Russians retreat

• Ukrainian troops pushed forward and a battle-scarred stretch of the front fell silent on Thursday, after Moscow ordered one of the war`s biggest retreats, though Kyiv warned that fleeing Russians could still turn Kherson into a `city of death`.
• A small group of Ukrainian soldiers was shown on Ukraine`s state TV being greeted by joyous residents in the centre of the village of Snihurivka around 55 km north of Kherson city, with a Ukrainian flag fluttering above the square behind them.
• `Today, on Nov 10, 2022, Snihurivka was liberated by the forces of the 131st Separate Intelligence Battalion. Glory to Ukraine!` a commander declared as dozens of locals applauded, cheered and filmed the soldiers on their phones


7. UN nuclear chief says radioactive waste recycling is `difficult` technology

• Recycling radioactive waste from nuclear power has security and cost challenges but the UN International Atomic Energy Association (IAEA) would be able to monitor the process should the United States take that path, the IAEA head said this week.
• The administration of US President Joe Biden sees the expansion of nuclear energy as a critical in tackling emissions linked to climate change in the world`s second-biggest greenhouse gas emitter, and views recycling as a smart way to both boost domestic nuclear fuel supplies and reduce waste.
• The US Energy Department`s Advanced Research Projects Agency Energy, or ARPA-E, aims to develop a dozen projects to recycle spent nuclear fuel. Last month it granted $38 million for reprocessing to companies including GE Research, the development part of General Electric Company.


8. Iran says it has developed hypersonic missile

• An Iranian Revolutionary Guards general claimed on November 10, 2022 that the Islamic republic has developed a hypersonic missile capable of penetrating all defence systems, raising concerns from the UN nuclear watchdog.
• Hypersonic missiles, like traditional ballistic missiles which can deliver nuclear weapons, can fly more than five times the speed of sound.
• `This hypersonic ballistic missile was developed to counter air defence shields, General Amirali Hajizadeh, the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps aerospace unit, said, quoted by Iran`s Fars news agency

9. IBM`s most powerful quantum computer

• International Business Machines Corp said it launched its most powerful quantum computer to date called the Osprey, a 433-qubit machine that has three times the number of qubits than its Eagle machine announced last year.
• The number of qubits, or quantum bits, are an indication of the power of the quantum computer which uses quantum mechanics, although different quantum computer companies make different claims about the power of their qubits which can be created many different ways.
• Quantum computers are one day expected to speed up certain calculations millions of times faster than the fastest super computers today


10. Hales, Buttler rout India as England storm into final

• Alex Hales and captain Jos Buttler hammered brilliant unbeaten half-centuries in a record unbroken opening partnership as a ruthless England humiliated India by 10 wickets at Adelaide Oval on November 10, 2022 to storm into the Twenty20 World Cup final.
• England, who won the 50-over World Cup on home soil in 2019, can now become the first team to hold both global trophies in white-ball cricket when they meet Pakistan in Sunday`s final at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
• They have rehabilitated opener Hales and Buttler to thank as the pair chased down 169 for victory with four overs to spare, silencing a huge crowd of India supporters by scoring 170 runs
