1. US gives go-ahead to Covid antibody therapy

• US drug regulators gave emergency approval to a Covid-19 antibody therapy on November 21, 2020 and G20 nations pushed for global access to vaccines as the pandemic led to further closures in parts of the world.
• With cases surpassing 12 million in the United States, the highest in the world, many Americans were nonetheless heading to airports to travel for next week`s Thanksgiving holiday despite health officials` warnings to stay home.
• Some US states were imposing new restrictions, including California, where a 10pm to 5am curfew was taking effect


2. PTI`s Sohail wins poll for GBLA-3

• Pakistan Tehreek-i-insaf`s (PTI) candidate Syed Sohail Abbas won the election for Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly`s constituency GBLA-3 on November 22, 2020.
• Elections in other constituencies of the GB assembly were held on Nov 15. In GBLA-3 the voting was postponed due to death of PTI`s candidate Syed Jaffar Shah.
• Mr Shah, who was also the president of the PTI`s GB chapter died of Covid-19 on Oct 11 after filing his nomination papers


3. PNS Zulfiquar visits Aqaba port

• PNS Zulfiquar, with embarked helicopter, sailed off from the Port of Aqaba, Jordan, on November 22, 2020, where it was visiting as part of Pakistan Navy’s overseas deployment to Mediterranean/Red Sea.
• According to information received here, the ship, upon arrival, was received by defence attaché of Jordan in Pakistan and the Royal Jordanian Naval Force (RJNF) liaison officer


4. Ex-minister Anwar Aziz Chaudhry passes away

• Former federal minister Anwar Aziz Chaudhry passed away at his residence in Lahore on November 22, 2020 after a sudden illness. He was 86.
• Chaudhry was the father of PML-N leader Daniyal Aziz and father-in-law of PML-N MNA Mehnaz Akbar.
• He began active participation in politics in 1963. In 1973, he became a close associate of the then prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and was made a federal minister in his cabinet. He was elected to the National Assembly thrice from Shakargarh tehsil of Narowal. He remained associated with almost every major political party, and was a part of the cabinets of former prime ministers Muhammad Khan Junejo and Nawaz Sharif.


5. Sahibzada Sultan wins final round of Thal Jeep Rally

• Sahibzada Muhammad Ali Sultan won the final round of 5th Thal Desert Jeep Rally on November 22, 2020.
• More than three dozen vehicles participated in the round, which finished at tehsil Chobara of district Layyah.
• Asif Fazal Chaudhry took second position and Faisal Zaffar remained third.
• Sahibzada Sultan`s vehicle reached the finishing point in one hour and six minutes while Asif Fazal Chaudhry reached the spot with one hour and seven minutes.


6. IS attack in Iraq`s north leaves 10 dead

• The militant Islamic State group on November 22, 2020 claimed an Iraq attack that killed 10 people the previous night and which fuelled criticism the state is doing too little to fight the jihadists.
• Salahaddin province north of Baghdad, the site of the bloodshed, declared three days of mourning.
• The attackers first hit a civilian car with a roadside bomb late on Saturday near Mt. Makhoul, 200 kilometres north of the capital, police said


7. China`s moon probe to seek retrieval of first rock since 1970s

• China plans to launch an unmanned spacecraft to the moon this week to bring back lunar rocks in the first attempt by any nation to retrieve samples from Earth`s natural satellite since the 1970s.
• The Chang`e-5 probe, named after the ancient Chinese goddess of the moon, will seek to collect material that can help scientists understand more about the moon`s origins and formation. The mission will test China`s ability to remotely acquire samples from space, ahead of more complex missions


8. World`s deepest diving pool opens in Poland

• A 45.5metre (150-foot) deep diving pool with artificial underwater caves and Mayan ruins, the world`s deepest such structure, opened near Warsaw this weekend.
• The complex, named Deepspot, even includes a small wreck for scuba and free divers to explore.
• It has 8,000 cubic metres of water more than 20 times the amount in an ordinary 25-metre pool

10. New tourist site inaugurated in capital

• The city managers have developed a new tourist site having a lotus lake near the natural history museum.
• Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Amer Ali Ahmed on November 22, 2020 inaugurated the site which will be known as `Family Park`.
• `The purpose of the facility is to provide a peaceful environment close to nature. The lotus lake will be another attraction for the citizens of the twin cities,` the CDA chief told Dawn
