8. US directs Nasa to create lunar time standard
The White House announced on Tuesday it is directing Nasa to create a unified time standard for the Moon and other celestial bodies, as governments and private companies increasingly compete in space. With the United States keen to set international norms beyond Earth`s orbit, the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) instructed the US space agency to formulate a plan by the end of 2026 for a standard it is calling Coordinated Lunar Time
9. Nato mulls $107bn fund for Ukraine
Nato allies agreed on Wednesday to initiate planning on long-term military support for Ukraine, but a proposal by Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg to do so via a 100 billion-euro ($107 billion) five-year fund drew mixed responses.
Ministers said such a fund would not be easy to put together. Ukraine said it would be welcome, but needed to be fresh money
10. Palestine revives bid to become UN member
Palestine on Tuesday officially revived their bid for a full member state in the United Nations a process with an uncertain outcome but one they say is necessary in the face of Israel`s offensive in Gaza.
The Palestinians, who have had observer status at the world body since 2012, have lobbied for years to gain full membership, which would amount to recognition of Palestinian statehood
