1. IMF board to review loan deal on Jan 11

The International Monetary Fund`s (IMF) Executive Board is slated to consider Pakistan`s first review on Jan 11, paving the way for the approval of a crucial $700 million tranche.

2. Special tribunal to deal with cases of privatization

The caretaker federal cabinet on Friday gave final nod to a presidential ordinance seeking to set up a special tribunal to be headed by a sitting judge of the Supreme Court or a high court to specifically deal with the cases of privatisation of state-owned entities.
Following the approval of the ordinance by the cabinet, the past practice of challenging the decisions of privatisation of state institutions in various courts will come to an end


3. India-Pakistan conflict management losing effectiveness: US scholar

US scholar Elizabeth Threlkeld here on Friday highlighted the diminishing effectiveness of conflict management between India and Pakistan, attributing it to rapid technological advancements and the intensifying rivalry between the United States and China.
Speaking at a roundtable organized by the Centre for International Strategic Studies (CISS), Threlkeld, who serves as the director of the South Asia Programme at the Stimson Centre, voiced her concerns over the stability of the already volatile region

6. US vetoes Security Council resolution calling for immediate ceasefire

10. India`s SC to unveil fate of held Kashmir status on 11th

INDIA`S Supreme Court will pronounce its verdict on a set of pleas against New Delhi`s 2019 imposition of direct rule in occupied Kashmir on Dec 11, The Times of India reported on Friday.
In 2019, India`s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had revoked occupied Kashmir`s special status in a controversial move by repealing Article 370 of the Constitution.
A five-member bench, headed by Chief Justice of India D.Y. Chandrachud, had begun hearing the set of petitions on July 11 and reserved its verdict on Sept 5.
