1. PSX posts its second biggest fall ever

Share prices dropped heavily on Tuesday, resulting in the second-biggest overnight fall in the 32-year history of the benchmark index.
As many as 94 shares of the KSE-100 index took a beating while the remaining six shares either advanced or closed flat. As a result, the KSE-100 index closed at 62,833 point s after losing 2,371.64 points or 3.6 per cent from the preceding session


2. PM rules out reversal of `one-document` visa regime

Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar on Tuesday ruled out withdrawing the newly implemented `one document regime`, which requires all Afghan citizens to enter Pakistan with a valid passport and visa, similar to travel1ers from other countries.
`There`s no question of retracting the one-document system for border crossing,` the premier said at a press conference during his visit to Quetta, stressing that the policy aimed to formalise border movements between Pakistan and Afghanistan


3. First shipment of dried chillies leaves for China

Pakistan on Tuesday shipped the first consignment of dried chillies to China as part of a drive to increase exports of agricultural commodities.
Caretaker Sindh Chief Minister retired Justice Maqbool Baqar sent off the shipment of dried chilies from the province to China, saying the potential for trade, cooperation and industry-level partnerships between the two countries was vast


4. Justice Abbasi takes oath as SHC chief justice

Justice Ageel Ahmed Abbasi took the oath of the chief justice of the Sindh High Court on Tuesday.

5. US may yet back `mild ceasefire` for Gaza

The emergency UN Security Council meeting on the Gaza situation was adjourned on Tuesday, with discussions entering into informal consultations as hopes rise of a slight flexibility in Washington`s otherwise staunch support for Israel. The council`s meeting, which started on Monday for a vote on UAE`s resolution calling for a sustainable cessation of hostilities in Gaza, was postponed due to US concerns over the draft`s phrasing.
While the US administration was still hesitant to endorse a `cessation of hostilities,` it has shown openness to a milder `suspension of hostilities

6. COAS engages in diplomatic, community outreach in US

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Asim Munir engaged with US scholars and foreign policy experts in Washington on Tuesday on the last leg of his weeklong visit to the United States.

9. Russia ready to talk on Ukraine, says Putin

President Vladimir Putin said on Tuesday that Russia would be prepared to talk to Ukraine, the United States and Europe about Kyiv`s future if they wanted to, but that Moscow would defend its national interests.
`In Ukraine, those who are aggressive towards Russia, and in Europe and in the United States do they want to negotiate? Let them. But we will do it based on our national interests,` Putin told a meeting attended by Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu and Chief of General Staff Valery Gerasimov among top defence leadership


10. OpenAI releases guidelines to gauge AI risks

ChatGPT-maker OpenAI published on Monday its newest guidelines for gauging `catastrophic risks` from artificial intelligence in models currently being developed.
The announcement comes one month after the company`s board fired CEO Sam Altman, only to hire him back a few days later when staff and investors rebelled
