1. Spy agency blames `ordinary hackers` for audio leaks

The Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) has indicated that ordinary individuals or hackers could be responsible for the recent audio leaks involving politicians, judges and their relatives, among others.
The claim was made in a report, submitted to the Islamabad High Court (IHC) via the Ministry of Defence, during a hearing last week.


2. Commissioner, DC offices to become paperless

After the successful implementation of the e-filing and office automation system (e-FOAS) in the departments, Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman has issued instructions to make the offices of divisional commissioners and deputy commissioners paperless across the province.
He issued these instructions during a meeting held at the Civil Secretariat on Tuesday. The Board of Revenue senior member, additional chief secretary and administrative secretaries attended the meeting while divisional commissioners and deputy commissioners participated through video link


3. ECP bans govt officers from election activities

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday issued an advisory ahead of the general election 2024, instructing government employees, including officers, to refrain from participating in political activities.
The ECP said that the government officials were prohibited from engaging in election activities, and the officials seeking leave must obtain permission from returning officers (ROs), while district officers must seek permission from district returning officers (DROs)


4. Exports to Middle East jump 29pc in July-November

Exports to the Middle East bounced back with a growth of 28.98 per cent to $1.257 billion in the first five months of the current fiscal year against $974.50m from a year ago.
A surge in demand for Pakistani products was observed from countries like the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, according to data compiled by the State Bank of Pakistan.
However, the exports to Qatar decreased during the period under review

6. Explosion rocks Israeli embassy in New Delhi

An explosion near the Israeli Embassy in New Delhi on Tuesday did not kill or wound any staff members, authorities said, adding that investigations into its cause were ongoing.

Sweden`s Nato bid had been stalled amid opposition from Turkiye and Hungary and recently it was further complicated after President Recep Tayyip Erdogan linked it to Ankara`s request for F-16 fighter jets from its ally the United States


8. Iran resumes pace of 60pc uranium enrichment: IAEA

Iran has resumed enriching uranium at a similar rate as at the start of the year, the IAEA said on Tuesday, as the country accelerates its nuclear programme while denying it is developing a bomb.
Iran has `increased its production of highly enriched uranium, reversing a previous output reduction from mid-2023`, the International Atomic Energy Agency said in a statement


9. Israel army arrests senior Palestinian lawmaker

The Israeli army on Tuesday said it arrested senior Palestinian politician Khalida Jarrar in the occupied West Bank, along with other activists of her leftist party.
Jarrar, 60, is a prominent figure in the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), a faction in the Palestine Liberation Organisation considered a `terrorist` group by Israel, the United States and the European Union.
`Khaleda Jarrar was arrested… along with other PFLP activists,` the army said in a statement


10. Diplomatic luminary` Riaz Khokhar is no more

Ambassador Riaz Khokhar, a luminary of Pakistani diplomacy, passed away on Tuesday, leaving behind a legacy that spans several decades of significant contributions to his country`s foreign relations.
Caretaker Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani, while conveying heartfelt condolences on the passing of Mr Khokhar, the former foreign secretary, on behalf of the Foreign Office characterised him as a `role model` for the Foreign Service, whose absence will be deeply felt.
