1. Two more cops martyred in yet another D.I. Khan attack

Amid a renewed wave of assaults targeting security personnel in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa particularly D.I.
Khan and Balochistan, two police personnel were martyred and three others sustained injuries when unidentified armed men attacked the camp office of a private oil and gas company in the early hours of Tuesday. The incident took place in Darazinda area and the attackers targeted the policemen on duty there, DSP Headquarters Asghar Ali Shah confirmed to Dawn


2. Health emergency in several Punjab districts to combat smog

The Punjab caretaker government has imposed `environmental and health emergency` in Lahore and two other divisions for four days Nov 9 to 12 to mitigate the impact of smog.
Also, the Lahore High Court on Tuesday ruled that show-cause notices would be issued to the chief secretary and respective deputy commissioner in case of stubble burning.
According to a notification, all markets, shopping malls, restaurants, cinemas, gymnasiums, schools, and offices (public and private) shall remain closed for four days (Nov 9 to 12) in Lahore, Gujranwala and Hafizabad divisions to combat smog


3. Caretakers stopped from moving bill in Senate

In a bizarre move, the caretaker information minister attempted to move a bill in the Senate but was schooled by the elected members that this was a transgression of his constitutional domain.
Murtaza Solangi sought to move the Motion Picture (Amendment) Bill in the house on Tuesday but was stopped by Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani and other members


4. Pakistan sends another aid consignment for Gazans

A special flight carrying the second consignment of relief goods from Pakistan for the people of occupied Gaza left from Islamabad airport on Tuesday.
The relief consignment consists of hygiene kits, medicines and food packages. The first relief consignment was sent on Oct 19.
The flight was seen off at the airport by Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani and Minister for Human Rights Khalil George on Tuesday. Palestinian Ambassador in Islamabad Ahmad Jawad Rabei and senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and National Disaster Management Authority were also present during the send-off at the airport


5. China is owed over $1tr in Belt and Road debt: report

China is owed more than a trillion dollars through its Belt and Road project, making it the biggest debt collector in the world, a report said this week, with an estimated 80 per cent of the loans supporting countries in financial distress.

6. Israel hints at taking over security of Gaza Strip

Israel will take on security responsibility for Gaza Strip for an indefinite period after the end of fighting, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Monday in the first direct comment on his government`s plans for the Palestinian territory`s future.
Hamas has been ruling Gaza for the past 16 years. The White House, however, said that the United States would oppose a reoccupation of Gaza by Israel`s military in post-conflict Gaza


7. Turkish parliament dumps products over Israel support

Turkiye`s parliament removed two international brands from its restaurants on Tuesday over their alleged support for Israel, according to an official statement and a source who named the two companies.
The two companies did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
`The products of companies that support Israel will not be sold in restaurants, cafeterias and tea houses in the parliament campus, Turkish`s national assembly said, without identifying the companies. Speaker Numan Kurtulmus made the decision, it added, in order to `support public sensitivity regarding boycotting products of companies who have openly declared their sup-port for Israel`s war crimes (and) killing of innocent people in Gaza` A parliamentary source said a popular beverage and instant coffee of a Swiss company were the only brands removed from menus, adding the decision was meant to respond to `huge public outcry against these companies` for supporting Israel


8. Russia formally withdraws from CFE treaty

Russia on Tuesday formally withdrew from a landmark security treaty which limited key categories of conventional armed forces, blaming the United States for undermining post Cold War security with the enlargement of the Nato military alliance.
The 1990 Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe (CFE), signed a year after the fall of the Berlin Wall, placed verifiable limits on categories of conventional military equipment that Nato and the then-Warsaw Pact could deploy
