1. Alvi now backs 2-state solution for Palestine
Walking back the earlier stance he had adopted on the Palestine issue, President Dr Arif Alvi on Thursday said that Pakistan firmly supports a just and peaceful resolution of the Palestine issue, based on the two state solution.
According to an official press release issued by the Presidency, he expressed these views during a meeting with Dr Saleh bin Abdullah Humaid, the Imam Khatib at Masjid Al-Haram and adviser at Saudi Royal Courts of Saudi Arabia. 2. FO sounds alarm over New Delhi`s `covert global operations`
The Foreign Office on Thursday voiced concern over the alarming expansion of India`s covert operations, including espionage and extraterritorial assassinations, on a global scale, condemning these actions as blatant violations of international law.

3. KP cabinet extends stipend for tribal girl students
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa caretaker government on Thursday approved the extension of the monthly stipend programme for girl students of grade VI-XII in tribal districts until 2025.
Scholarships will be provided to 32,833 girl students from the erstwhile Fata in 2023, 37,758 in 2024 and 43,422 in 2025 at the estimated cost of Rs940.5 million, read an official statement issued after the cabinet`s meeting here. The cabinet also approved a proposal to link the scholarship disbursement with the student performance, examination results and the minimum attendance of 70 per cent
4. CTD kills four in Kech operation
The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) said on Thursday it had killed four suspected terrorists in an intelligence-based operation in the Turbat town of Balochistan`s Kech district.
According to a CTD spokesperson, the operation was launched based on intelligence indicating the presence of the individuals near a bus terminal on Pasni Road.
As the CTD`s team approached the site, the armed people launched an attack using automatic weapons and hand grenades
5. ECC allows urea imports
The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the cabinet on Thursday decided to import 220,000 tonnes of urea from Azerbaijan on a government-to-government (G2G) basis, allowed Rs754 billion cash credit limits (CCL) to Punjab and Sindh for procurement of essential commodities and approved a further increase in gas price from January.
The ECC meeting, presided over by caretaker Finance Minister Dr Shamshad Akhtar, rejected an increase in prices of 262 medicines sought on a hardship basis and refused waiver of interest on $25 million loan to the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) for issuance of digital identification cards

The fighting killed five soldiers, including two elite commandos, and left another soldier wounded, an army officer said

10. Former WI star Samuels banned from cricket for six years
Former West Indies star Marlon Samuels has been banned from all cricket for six years for breaching an anti-corruption code, the sport`s world body said on Thursday.
The charges relate to the 42-yearold`s stint in a T10 league in the United Arab Emirates in 2019. He has since retired from all cricket.
