1. Pakistan calls for `binding` framework on ethical AI use

Foreign Secretary Syrus Qazi has called for a binding global framework to guarantee the responsible use of AI and cyberspace and warned against unfair restrictions on developing countries` access to emerging technologies.
`Pakistan emphasises the need for international cooperation to develop a legally binding framework governing the responsible uses of cyberspace and artificial intelligence technologies,` the foreign secretary said on Friday while addressing the concluding session of a workshop in Islamabad


2. Pakistan, Kuwait to seal $10bn investment deal

Pakistan and Kuwait will soon sign seven memorandums of understanding (MoUs) for investments worth $10 billion in Pakistan through seven projects in multiple fields, including environment, mining, and food security.
In this regard, the federal cabinet, in its meeting held on Friday, approved seven MoUs to be signed during the upcoming visit of caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar to Kuwait


3. Pakistan gets costly LNG bids for January

Pakistan on Friday received four international bids, with the lowest at $18.46 per unit, for the supply of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargo in the first part of January to meet anticipated peak winter shortage in the residential sector as the gas regulator notified 1.2 per cent increase in the sale price of regasified-LNG (RLNG) for November.
The RLNG sale price for December is estimated to be even higher given the induction of two relatively expensive imported cargoes in the first and second week of next month already contracted by the state run Pakistan LNG Limited (PLL) that normally procures through tender the commodity from the international spot market

4. Afghan mission in New Delhi closes down

Afghanistan`s embassy in Delhi has announced it has shut down in the face of `persistent challenges from the Indian government`, reports said on Friday.
This follows the halt to operations announced on Sept 30, which the embassy called `a move made in the hope the Indian government`s stance will favourably change to let the mission operate normally`. The embassy said, `It now rests on the Indian government to decide the fate of the mission… to maintain closure or consider alternatives


5. Palestinians rejoice as 39 walk free from Israeli prisons

After weeks of death and despair, there were celebrations in parts of Gaza as 39 Palestinians, who were freed from Israeli prisons on Friday, returned to their loved ones on the first day of a hard-fought truce that has brought a pause to Israeli hostilities for the time being.
Under the terms of the four-day truce, 50 women and children are to be released over four days, in return for 150 Palestinian women and children among thousands of detainees in Israeli jails. Israel says the truce could be extended if more prisoners are released at a rate of 10 per day

6. Kabul links migrant deportations with verification by consulate general

For the first time since the start of the repatriation of undocumented Afghans early this month, not a single `illegal alien` was sent home via Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday as Afghan authorities linked the deportation of such people with the verification of their status by the Afghan consulate-general here.
Official sources in the Afghan consulate general told Dawn that the deportation condition was introduced for multiple reasons, especially the arrival of Pakistani nationals in Afghanistan as `Afghan deportees


7. Turkiye offers scholarships to students

The Turkish Ambassador to Pakistan, Mr Mehmet Pacaci, has offered more scholarships for students studying in Turkish educational institutions of Balochistan and other parts of the country.
In a meeting with Balochistan caretaker Chief Minister Mir Ali Mardan Domki during his visit to Quetta on Friday, Mr Pacaci said that Pak-Turk educational institutions were working in all major cities of Pakistan and over 13000 students were studying in these schools and colleges


8. Armenia says Russia held back arms it paid for

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said on Friday that Russia had failed to deliver weapons Yerevan had already paid for and accused Russia`s media of destabilising his country`s political situation.

9. Egypt seeks recognition of Palestine

Egypt`s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on Friday appeared to discredit the moribund Israel-Palestinian peace process and instead called on the international community to recognise the Palestinian state.
During a joint news conference with the prime ministers of Spain and Belgium in Cairo, Sisi said reviving the process aimed at ending the Israel-Palestinian issue `may not be what is required`
