1. Saudi govt extends $3bn deposit for another year: SBP

Saudi Arabia has rolled over the $3 billion deposit facility for another year to support the State Bank of Pakistan`s (SBP) foreign exchange reserves which may fall to below $4bn in case the amount is withdrawn.
`On behalf of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) has extended the term of the $3bn deposit maturing on Dec 5 for another year,` the SBP announced on social media platform X, formerly Twitter


2. Two terrorists killed in Kalat operation: ISPR

Security forces killed two terrorists during an intelligence-based operation in Kalat district of Balochistan, the military said in a statement issued on Tuesday night.
The Inter-Services Public Relations said the operation was conducted in the Nagao Mountains area of Kalat on information about the presence of terrorists there


3. Pakistan seeks international tribunal to probe Israel`s war crimes

On the International Day of Solidarity with Palestine, Pakistan has urged the United Nations to establish a special tribunal and accountability mechanism to investigate alleged war crimes by Israel.
Pakistani envoy, Ambassador Usman Iqbal Jadoon also called for the deployment of an international protection force to safeguard Palestinian civilians, particularly women and children in Gaza and the West Bank. This plea underscores the gravity of the situation and the dire need for international intervention in the Israeli-Palestinian issue


4. PM arrives in Dubai to attend COP28 summit

After completing his two-day visit to Kuwait, caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar on Wednesday reached Dubai to attend COP28 summit on climate change.
According to the Prime Minister`s Office (PMO), UAE Minister for Justice Abdullah Sultan bin Awad Al Nuaimi, Pakistan`s Ambassador to the UAE, and the Pakistani diplomatic staff welcomed the prime minister at Dubai`s Al-Maktoum Airport The prime minister will head the Pakistani delegation at the 28th Conference of Parties and will attend the World Climate Action Summit on Dec 1 and 2


5. Ministry appoints coordinator to deal with TB, Aids and malaria

After the intervention of the Islamabad High Court (IHC), the Ministry of National Health Services (NHS) has finally appointed a permanent national coordinator, Common Management Unit (CMU), a seat that had been filled on an ad hoc basis for many years.
Dr. Razia Kaniz Fatima has assumed the charge of national coordinator CMU to deal with tuberculosis (TB), HIV/Aida, and malaria under the Ministry of NHS

6. US charges Indian with plot to kill Sikh separatist

The United States has charged an Indian national with conspiring to assassinate a US citizen who advocated for a sovereign state for Sikhs, the US attorney`s office in Manhattan said on Wednesday.
Nikhil Gupta was arrested by Czech authorities in June and is awaiting extradition. He could not be reached for comment


7. Turkiye to ratify Nato accession `within weeks`, claims Sweden

Turkiye has told Sweden it expects to ratify its long delayed accession to the Nato military alliance within weeks, Sweden`s foreign minister said on Wednesday.
But Turkiye denied it has given any timetable for the ratification.
Sweden and Finland asked to join Nato last year after Russia`s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. But Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan, whose country is a Nato member, raised objections over what he said was the two countries` protection of groups that Ankara deems terrorists


8. Killings of kids in Jenin mar attempts to extend truce

With just hours of peace left, mediators scrambled to extend a truce between Israel and Hamas on Wednesday.
But progress on the truce deal was marred by the killings of two Palestinian children by Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank city of Jenin.
Late on Wednesday night, AFP reported that another group of Israeli prisoners had been handed over to the Red Cross in the Gaza Strip. The release is the sixth under the extended humanitarian truce


9. Saudi fund scoops up 10pc of Heathrow airport

Saudi Arabia`s sovereign wealth fund is to buy ten per cent of London`s Heathrow airport from Spanish infrastructure giant Ferrovial, whose departure from the hub after almost two decades leaves Qatar as its biggest shareholder.
Ferrovial late on Tuesday said it was offloading its 25pc stake for nearly 2.4 billion ($3.0 billion), with the other 15pc going to French private equity group Ardian


10. US military plane crashes off Japan; one killed

A US military aircraft with eight people onboard crashed into the sea in western Japan on Wednesday, with several media outlets reporting one crew member had died and the condition of at least two hauled from waters was unclear.
Japan`s coast guard said what appeared to be wreckage from the tilt-rotor V-22 Osprey and one `nonresponsive` person had been found some 3 km from Yakushima island
