1. World Bank flags concerns over privatisation approach

The World Bank has raised concerns over Pakistan`s approach to privatising its state-owned entities (SOEs) and highlighted the adverse impacts of judicial activism, political nuisance, sale of K-Electric and what it called the botched Sarmaya-i-Pakistan model.
The financial institution cautioned the government of looming litigation in divestments to foreign states under government-to-government contracts and instead advised public offerings through stock exchanges followed by privatisation under the transparent oversight of a special joint committee of the parliament


2. Five new districts of Punjab to get 13 NA, PA seats

Five districts of Punjab, which were created last year, will get 13 national and provincial assembly seats among them for the first time under the preliminary delimitation.
The districts are Kot Addu, Taunsa, Wazirabad, Talagang and Murree. Kot Addu district of southern Punjab alone will get two national and three provincial assembly seats. The two NA seats are NA-179 and NA-180, while the provincial assembly constituencies will be PP-276, PP-277 and PP-278


3. Pakistan to present performance report at WHO`s regional committee today

Pakistan will share its initiatives, challenges and future action plans at a conference of the World Health Organisation (WHO)`s regional committee for the Eastern Mediterranean Region (EMRO) in in Cairo on Monday (today).
Health Minister Dr Nadeem Jan will represent Pakistan at the highest regional health forum involving 22 nations. The EMRO, spanning from Pakistan in South Asia to Mauritania in North Africa, is the focal point of discussion


4. International finance system launched for overseas Pakistanis

Pakistan Post has launched a new service ‘International Financial System’ on the occasion of World Post Day celebrated on Sunday.
As per a spokesman for the postal department, the new service has been especially designed to facilitate overseas Pakistanis for sending foreign remittances. The caretaker federal minister inaugurated the international financial system in a ceremony arranged in connection with the World Post Day. The day is commemorated every year throughout the world to mark the establishment of Universal Postal Union (UPU) in 1874


5. PAF launches 14-nation air exercise

In a display of international camaraderie and air power, Pakistan Air Force inaugurated its 14-nation multinational air exercise, Indus Shield-2023, at an operational airbase on Sunday.
Air Vice Marshal Tariq Mehmood Ghazi, the air officer commanding, PAF Central Air Command, was the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony.
He highlighted the importance of multinational air exercises in adapting to changing air warfare dynamics. He praised the Air Power Centre of Excellence for organising the major exercise, which would strengthen partnerships among key allies and improve cooperation

6. Gaza suffers deadliest Israeli strikes since `07
