1. PM returns from China with more pacts under his belt

Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar returned home on Friday evening after a whirlwind five day China trip that took him to places where only few foreign dignitaries before him visited, and one that saw Islamabad and Beijing ink over 20 agreements, covering areas from currency swapping to building a research station on the moon`s south pole.
Although both sides vowed to cement ties in various fields, especially for China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), President Xi Jinping sought guarantees from Islamabad regarding security of Chinese personnel working in Pakistan


2. Four militants killed in Lakki Marwat

Four militants were killed and one was apprehended in an intelligence-based operation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa`s Lakki Marwat district on Friday, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
It said the security forces conducted the operation in the Semu Wanda area on the reported presence of militants


3. Two former ministers `arrested`

Two former provincial ministers were reportedly arrested and several others managed to escape as police launched a fresh crackdown on the leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday.
PTI workers and family members claimed that police arrested former minister for higher education Kamran Bangash while raids were conducted on the houses of former ministers and lawmakers in Peshawar


4. Italian PM leaves partner

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said on Friday she had separated from her television journalist partner Andrea Giambruno, who has drawn criticism in recent weeks for se*ist comments.
Meloni told reporters last month she should not be judged over Giambruno`s remarks and in future would not answer questions about his behaviour


5. China restricts export of graphite products

China said on Friday it would require export permits for some graphite products to protect national security, in its latest move to control supplies of critical minerals in response to challenges over its global manufacturing dominance.
China is the world`s top graphite producer and exporter. It also refines more than 90 per cent of the world`s graphite into the material that is used in virtually all EV battery anodes, which is the negatively charged portion of a battery

6. Sweden to limit social benefits for non-European immigrants

Sweden`s right wing government said on Friday it would make it harder for non-European immigrants to receive social benefits, saying it wanted to dissuade migrants from arriving, and better integrate those who do.

The strike left a `large number of martyrs and injured` at the compound of the Greek Orthodox Saint Porphyrius Church in Gaza City, the ministry said

Putin lashed out on Thursday, saying the IOC had effectively suspended Russia from the Olympic movement
