1. Over 300 PIA flights cancelled in 10 days

Pakistan International Airlines is on the verge of a shutdown as it has cancelled over 300 flights in the past10 days due to the unavailability of fuel and financial crisis, a national carrier`s spokesman has confirmed.
The airline is facing arguably its worst crisis in history as Pakistan State Oil (PSO) has cut the fuel supply over unpaid dues.
The move forced the airline to cancel 322 flights, including 134 on international routes, since Oct 14


2. COAS reaffirms Pakistan`s support to Palestinians

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir here on Tuesday met Palestinian Ambassador Ahmad Jawad Rabei at General Headquarters and reaffirmed the support of Pakistan to Palestine.
`At this critical juncture, it is imperative that the international community mobilises to put an early end to unfolding human tragedy due to disproportionate and unlawful use of force by Israeli Defence Forces and desist from encouraging them to continue perpetrating atrocities in manifest violation of all norms of civility and humane conduct,` he said


3. ADB okays help for coastal project

The Asian Development Bank has approved technical assistance for Sindh Coastal Resilience Sector project that will support the development of a resilient coastal region in the province.
The transaction technical assistance will help Sindh government prepare the project with a high degree of readiness. It will have two outputs: coastal resilience strategic framework with priority investments prepared; and project prepared with enhanced readiness

4. UN chief points to violations of international law in Gaza

UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres on Tuesday alleged violations of international law in Gaza and urged an immediate ceasefire as Israeli bombings killed over 700 people since Monday night the highest 24-hour death toll after Israel started bombing the besieged enclave on Oct 7.
A total of 5,791 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli bombardments, including 2,360 children


5. China plans to issue $137bn bonds

China said on Tuesday it would issue sovereign bonds worth 1 trillion yuan ($137 billion) in a move seen as an attempt to shore up the economy after a sluggish post-Covid recovery.
China`s economy grew more than expected in the third quarter, but the reading was still below target and officials have continued to face calls for more stimulus. The bonds unveiled on Tuesday will be distributed to local governments to support national disaster prevention and recovery and will be issued in the fourth quarter of this year, state news agency Xinhua said.

6. Russia, Dubai`s DP World to develop Arctic sea route

Russian nuclear agency Rosatom said on Tuesday it has set up a joint venture with Dubai`s DP World to develop container shipping through the Arctic as part of an initiative heavily promoted by President Vladimir Putin.
