1. 3 militants killed in clash near Quetta

Three terrorists were killed while a subedar embraced martyrdom and another soldier sustained injuries during an exchange of fire with armed militants near Quetta, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Friday.
Officials said over two dozen armed militants hiding in the Zarghoon mountains area had attacked the check-post in Wali Tangi, where security personnel were deployed to protect a dam

3. Azad Kashmir withdraws increase in electricity bills

The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government has decided to withdraw the recent increase in electricity bills and maintain the power tariff at the July level, in a move that will put an additional burden of Rs10-12 billion on the exchequer, a senior cabinet member said on Friday.
Speaking at a thinly-attended press conference along with two other colleagues in the press information department, senior minister Waqar Ahmed Noor said this and some other important decisions were taken by the AJK cabinet at its lengthy meeting here, the other day


4. Exports of textile, clothing contract over 9pc in July-August

Textile and clothing exports shrank 9.49 per cent in the first two months of the current fiscal year from a year ago owing to rising cost of production and liquidity constraints, data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics showed on Friday.
In absolute terms, the value of textile and clothing exports fell to $2.766 billion in July-August from $3.05bn in the corresponding months last year.
The decline indicates no sign of revival in export proceeds in the first half of FY24

5. `No agreements` signed during Kim visit: Kremlin

The Kremlin said on Friday that no agreements had been signed during North Korean leader Kim Jong Un`s ongoing visit to Russia, amid Western concern that the two isolated countries could be preparing an arms deal.

8. Israel launches air strike on Gaza

The Israeli military said it launched an air strike on Gaza on Friday, following violence at a border rally in which health officials said multiple Palestinians were wounded.

10. Russia says will not boycott Paris Olympics

Russia`s Olympic Committee has said Moscow would not be boycotting the 2024 Olympics in Paris and every Russian athlete was free to choose whether or not to take part under a neutral banner.
`Boycotting the [Olympic] Games leads to nowhere,` Russian Olympic Committee president Stanislav Pozdnyakov said in a briefing on Thursday.
Athletes from Russiaand Belarus have faced sanctions from a multitude of sports since Russia launched its assault on Ukraine in February 2022
