  1. Ambulance bomb kills 95 in Kabul

    • Dr Jaffar Khan, 34, was educated at Cambridge and Oxford and initially worked at St Thomas Hospital in London before going for his PhD at the National Institute of Health (NIH)in Washington DC
    • He has developed a procedure that allows some types of heart surgery to be conducted with minimal invasive procedures. The technique has been dubbed `Lampoon` from its medical acronym. It is a `keyhole` cardiac surgery technique that resects heart tissue for the first time using minimally invasive techniques
