1. EU releases another 1m euros to help flood-hit
The European Union has released an additional one million euros in humanitarian aid to respond to Hoods that directly or indirectly affected some 900,000 people in the past weeks.
The new funding comes in addition to the 16.5 million euros already allocated in humanitarian assistance to Pakistan earlier this year, in order to assist the most vulnerable population affected by conflict and climate-induced disasters
2. Magisterial powers given to Balochistan environment department
The Balochistan caretaker cabinet on Monday approved powers of magistrate for the provincial environment department to ensure improved environment conditions in the province.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the cabinet, presided over by caretaker Chief Minister Mir Ali Mardan Domki here on Monday.
The powers have been given to the environment department under Section 1 of Sub-section 32 of the Balochistan Environmental Protection Act, 2012
3. Govt borrows Rs1.6tr in 70 days
Despite higher taxation on almost all sectors of the economy, the government has rigorously been borrowing for budgetary support since the outset of the current fiscal year.
The data released by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on Monday showed that the government borrowed Rs1,600 billion in the first 70 days (July 1 to Sept 8) of this fiscal year against Rs261bn in the same period last year.
In other words, the government borrowed over Rs22.8bn per day to meet it s expenditures
4. `Missing` anchor Imran Riaz back home after four months
Anchorperson Imran Riaz Khan, who `went missing` over four months ago, finally returned home `safely` on Monday morning.
Punjab police IG Usman Anwar and Sialkot DPO Hassan Iqbal confirmed that the missing anchorperson was back home.

5. US exploring potential space force hotline with China
The United States Space Force has had internal discussions about setting up a hotline with China to prevent crises in space, US commander General Chance Saltzman said on Monday.
The chief of space operations said a direct line of communication would be valuable in de-escalating tensions but that the US had not yet engaged with China to establish one.
`What we have talked about on the US side at least is opening up a line of communication to make sure that if there is a crisis, we know who we can contact,` Saltzman said, adding that it would be up to President Joe Biden and the State Department to take the lead on such discussions
