1. Balochistan govt approves digital Zakat payment

The Balochistan caretaker cabinet has given approval to increase the annual grant for the thalassemia unit at Teaching Hospital Gwadar (THG) to Rs10 million.
Additionally, the cabinet has decided to implement digital payment for fixed aid amounts to Zakat beneficiaries across the province to enhance transparency


2. European team due on 27th to review flight safety steps

A team of the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and European Commission will arrive in Pakistan on Nov 27 on a four-day visit to review measures taken by the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) regarding issues of pilot licences, airworthiness and flight safety.
According to sources, EASA and European Commission team will arrive in Karachi on Nov 27 and will depart on Nov 30 after completing its visit to Pakistan


3. Two more ministers inducted in AJK cabinet

Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwarul Haq has inducted two female legislators in his already enlarged cabinet, raising the total number of ministers to 31.
According to a Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD) notification, which carries the date of Nov 17 but surfaced only on Tuesday, the new ministers were Ms Taqdees Gillani and Ms Imtiaz Nasim.
Immediately their portfolios were not announced


4. UNHCR raises alarm over Afghans` exit order

The UN Refugee Agency, has raised concerns over Pakistan`s announcement for undocumented foreigners to leave, as the orders have adversely affected Afghan nationals including registered refugees and others with valid documents.
UNHCR Representative in Pakistan Philippa Candler told a press briefing at UN European headquarters in Geneva on Tuesday that mass arrivals back to Afghanistan were adding to the ongoing humanitarian crisis, as winter temperatures in some locations dip to as low as -4°C
5. Israel, Hamas, US, Qatar expect truce, prisoner deal
Hopes mounted on Tuesday that Hamas could release dozens of prisoners from war-torn Gaza after the group`s leader and key mediator Qatar said a truce deal was in sight and the Israeli premier pointed to `progress`.
`We are close to reaching a deal on a truce,` Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh said, according to a statement sent by his office to AFP, after US President Joe Biden at the White House indicated at a prisoners` swap deal along with a temporary truce. `We are now very close, very close

6. Israeli strike kills two journalists, two others in Lebanon

Israeli bombardment of south Lebanon on Tuesday killed four civilians, official media said, including two journalists from Lebanon`s Al-Magadeen television, the broadcaster reported, in ongoing violence at the Lebanon-Israel border.
The state-run National News Agency (NNA) reported `the deaths of three citizens two journalists and another civilian in enemy bombing` of the Tair Harfa area


7. US extends exemption related to fish exports

In a significant development for the seafood industry, Pakistan has successfully secured a two year extension until Dec 31, 2025 to continue the commercial export of fish and fish products to the United States.
This decision by the US administration exempts Pakistan from adhering to the standards outlined in the Marine Mammal Protection Act (MMPA) of 2016, according to an official announcement on Tuesday


8. US, UN discuss features of a post-crisis Gaza

The US State Department, while outlining its vision of resolving the Israeli-Palestinian crisis, has emphasised the establishment of a Palestinian state that unites both the West Bank and Gaza.

9. Russia, China put their weight behind Gaza ceasefire

The highpowered BRICS group of nations, including heavyweights Russia and China, on Tuesday issued a forceful call for an immediate and sustained humanitarian truce in Gaza during an extraordinary summit, while its chair, South Africa, accused Israel of `war crimes and genocide` in Palestine.
Pretoria hosted a virtual BRICS meeting a group of major emerging economies that include Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa aimed at drawing up a common response to the conflict raging in the Middle East. BRICS sees itself as a counterweight to the US and Western-led global order


10. US hits `pro-Iran group after Iraq airbase comes under attack

US forces on Tuesday `responded` to an attack on them at an Iraq base that caused minor injuries and infrastructure damage, an American military official said.
On the same day, a drone strike hit a proIran group`s vehicle west of Baghdad, killing one, said a security source.
