1. `Pakistan no stranger to Indian machinations`
- Pakistan`s top diplomats on Wednesday welcomed Western scrutiny of India`s subversive activities on foreign soil, saying that the country was no stranger to its neighbour`s machinations.

- Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar has informed world leaders that Pakistan will seek climate justice and financial support at the United Nations climate conference (COP28), which will be held in Dubai in December this year.
- The prime minister underlined Pakistan`s grievances at two summit meetings in New York on the sidelines of the 78 UN General Assembly, which began on Tuesday
4. Interim health minister decides to set up `Pharma Park`
- Caretaker Health Minister Dr Nadeem Jan on wednesday said the interim government has started negotiations with stakeholders to set up a `Pharma Park` in Pakistan which would potentially reduce the prices of medicines as well as increase the capacity of the local industry.
- According to the interim minister, the `Pharma Park` aimed to start the production of molecules locally instead of importing them in a bid to reduce the strain on foreign exchange reserves
5. ADB trims growth outlook amid lingering uncertainty
- While the South Asian region will be growing at 5.4 per cent and maintaining singledigit inflation (at 6.6pc), the Asian Development Bank (ADB) forecasts Pakistan limping at 1.9pc growth rate and its population will continue reeling under elevated cost of living, reflected by a 25pc rate, during the current fiscal year.
In its flagship Asian Development Outlook (ADO) released on Wednesday, the ADB lowered the growth rate and increased the inflation outlook for Pakistan

6. UAE bans meat imports from Pakistan via sea
- The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has banned the import of frozen meat from Pakistan through sea route after allegedly finding fungus in a consignment of meat.
The meat consignment had been sent by a Karachi-based company by sea and the whole shipment was destroyed by the UAE authorities, while a ban was imposed on all further imports of frozen meat from Pakistan through maritime channels at least up till Oct 10. - However, meat exports by air will continue without any break.
- Pakistan exports meat worth around $144 million per year to the UAE
7. Lok Sabha votes to reserve 33pc of seats for women
- India`s lower house of parliament passed a billon Wednesday that would more than double the number of women lawmakers in its ranks, following several failed attempts to enact the measure stretching back decades.
- The proposed law would reserve one-third of seats in Lok Sabha and state assemblies for women once it takes effect, which could take until at least the end ofthe decade.
- It would not take effect before national elections next year, but will be a further fillip to the already commanding position of Prime Minister Narendra Modi`s party ahead of that poll
8. Saudis, Houthis hold talks to end Yemen war
- Saudi Arabia and the Iran-backed Houthi rebels put a positive spin on historic but inconclusive talks in Riyadh on Wednesday as diplomatic efforts increased to end Yemen`s bitter war.
- The five days of talks were `positive`, Saudi officials and a senior Houthi said, after the rebel delegation ended the first public visit to the Saudi capital since hostilities broke out between the two sides
9. Erdogan meets Netanyahu amid thaw
- Turkiye`s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met in New York on Tuesday with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who said `ties between the two countries were improving`.
- After more than a decade of tensions, relations have improved with recent high-level visits, including that of Israeli President Isaac Herzog to Ankara last year
10. Rwanda memorials put on heritage list
- Four memorials to the 1994 genocide in Rwanda of more than 800,000 people, mainly Tutsi, were added to UNESCO`s World Heritage list on Wednesday, the UN cultural body said.
- The sites at Nyamata, Murambi, Gisozi and Bisesero commemorating the mass killings were `just inscribed on the Unesco World Heritage list`, the organisation posted on X (formerly Twitter).
