1. Second biggest Indian terrorist network unearthed: govt

• The government on July 6, 2021 said the second biggest Indian-sponsored terrorist network was unearthed which was involved in the recent blast in Lahore. It also decided to hold talks with the angry Baloch tribals who had never sided with India during the insurgency in Balochistan.
• It also decided to establish camps on the border with Afghanistan in anticipation of an influx of refugees due to the ongoing violence in the country.
• These decisions were taken in a federal cabinet meeting presided over by Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday.

2. Pakistan raises another $1bn thru Eurobond issued in March

• Pakistan on July 6, 2021 raised additional debt of $1 billion through a tap issue of its recently issued three-tranche dollar denominated Eurobond that had fetched$2.5bninMarch.
• The bond was subscribed in excess of$3bnforhve,10 and 30 years. Pakistan accepted $300m for five-year note at 5.875pc, $400m for 10-year bond at 7.125pc and $300m for 30-year paper at 8.450pc.
• Pakistan had adopted a programme-based approach with the registration of Global Medium-Term Note (MTN) programme, which allows it to tap the market regularly and at a short notice, Fahad Rauf, head of research at Ismail Iqbal Securities.

3. NCOC confirms presence of different variants

• As many as two million more doses of Sinovac vaccine reached Pakistan from China on July 6, 2021.
• On the other hand, the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) confirmed presence of different variants of coronavirus, including the delta (Indian), beta (South African) and alpha (UK) variants, in Pakistan and detection of their cases in May and June.
• According to a study conducted by World Health Organisation (WHO) in 28 countries, drugs that block the effects of interleukin-6 reduce the risk of death by Covid-19 and the need for mechanical ventilation.

4. E-portal for equivalence certificates launched

• Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood on July 6, 2021 launched e-portal and smartphone application of the Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC) for equivalence certificates.
• IBCC Secretary Dr Ghulam Ali Mallah briefed the minister on the utility and benefits of the application.
• Speaking on the occasion, the minister said the IBCC had been following the directives of Prime Minister Imran Khan by introducing transparency, ease of doing business and customer facilitation. He said that according to the vision of the prime minister, the launch of such an application was not only a revolutionary step but also a signature project of the Ministry of Education which intends to minimise the problems of the public and increase their accessibility to the IBCC.

5. Germany to help mitigate climate change impact in GB

• German Ambassador Bernhard Schlagheck has said cooperation will be extended for mitigating climate change impact in Gilgit-Baltistan.
• The German envoy called on Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid Khan here on July 6, 2021, according to a press release issued by the Chief Minister`s House.
• The chief minister appreciated the German government for supporting GB in health, education and power sectors

6. US left Bagram at night, didn`t tell commander

• The US left Afghanistan`s Bagram Airfield after nearly 20 years by shutting off the electricity and slipping away in the night without notifying the base`s new Afghan commander, who discovered the Americans` departure more than two hours after they left, Afghan military officials said.
• Afghanistan`s army showed off the sprawling air base on Monday, providing a rare first glimpse of what had been the epi centre of Americas war to unseat the Taliban and hunt down the Al Qaeda perpetrators of the 9/11 attacks on America.

9. Israeli govt fails to renew disputed citizenship law

• Israel`s parliament failed on July 6, 2021 to renew a disputed law that bars granting citizenship or residency to Palestinians from the occupied West Bank or Gaza who are married to Israeli citizens, dealing a setback to the new coalition government.
• An early-morning vote in the Knesset (parliament) tied at 59-59, short of a simple majority needed to extend the 2003 law, which expires at midnight.
• Prime Minister Naftali Bennett called the vote `a premeditated, direct blow to national security`.

10. Oxygen emergency in Indonesia

• Indonesia said on July 6, 2021 it was importing emergency oxygen from neighbouring Singapore as hospitals crumbled under the weight of Covid-19, with the Delta variant continuing to wreak havoc around the globe.
