1. AJK votes in local elections after decades
• After a long wait of over three decades, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) will finally go to the phased local government elections on Sunday (today), with polling in the first leg in Muzaffarabad division amid concerns over the `minimal security cover` to be provided by the local police personnel.
• However, senior officials who spoke on November 26, 2022 appeared content that they would manage to conduct the exercise in a largely peaceful and satisfactory manner, saying that while around 4,500 police personnel would man 1,323 polling stations, Quick Response Force (QRF) comprising 500 policemen would remain on alert at the backend to deal with any emergency situation.
• According to officials, as many as 697,732 voters, including 321,536 females, would exercise their right to franchise from 8am to 5pm to elect their nominees from some 750 wards of urban and rural councils in the three districts of Muzaffarabad division Neelum, Muzaffarabad and Jhelum valley from amongst 2,716 contestants mostly belonging to ruling PTI and opposition PPP and PML-N.
2. PM pledges `no red tape` to attract Turkish investment
• Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on November 26, 2022 spent his day attempting to woo Turkish investors to invest in Pakistan, promising them the government `would not tolerate` any red tape that causes problems for the investors.
• The prime minister held back-to-back meetings with Turkish businesspersons and investors before departing for Pakistan on Saturday night, culminating his two-day visit.
• Addressing a Turkiye-Pakistan Business Council meeting organised by the Foreign Economic Relations Board of Turkiye, the prime minister said the government would not `tolerate any snags and impediments` in the way of foreign investment.
• He reassured that his government would fully ensure a `hassle and red tape-free` environment for Turkish investors
3. PM thanks Azeri president for rice import tax exemption
• Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif thanked President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on November 26, 2022 for approving a five-year tax exemption on rice imports from Pakistan.
• `Our two brotherly countries will work to promote economic cooperation and connectivity through road, rail and Gwadar port,` the prime minister wrote on Twitter.
• His tweet came in response to Azeri president`s remarks that the decision to import rice from Pakistan with a tax exemption of five years was the outcome of his meetings with Mr Sharif held in the last couple of months
4. Nine terrorists killed, three held in Kohlu, says ISPR
• At least nine alleged terrorists have been killed and three others injured in an intelligence based operation in Seha Koh area of Kohlu district on Saturday.
• The military`s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations, in a statement, said the terrorists belonging to BLA(H) were involved in the Kohlu bazaar bombing, which claimed two lives and left 19 others wounded on September 30.
• Security forces were in search of the culprits, who were also involved in attacking personnel, kidnapping for ransom, targeting engineers and labourers working on development projects

5. Three dead, 11 hurt in Brazil school attacks
• At least three people, including an adolescent girl, were killed and 11 others wounded November 26 2022, when a 16-year-old shooter wearing Nazi symbols opened fire on two schools in southeastern Brazil, officials said.
• Authorities in the city of Aracruz, in Espirito Santo state, said the shooter fired on a group of teachers at his former school, killing two people and leaving nine others wounded. He then left that school a public primary and secondary school and went to a nearby private school where he killed an adolescent girl and wounded two other people, officials said.
• Authorities have arrested the shooter, said Governor Renato Casagrande, who declared three days of mourning in the state. `He was a student at (the first) school until June. His family then transferred him to another school. We have information he was undergoing psychiatric treatment,` Casagrande told a news conference
