1. Taliban regime `enabler` of terror: Kakar
As mass expulsion of Afghan nationals purportedly living without proper documentation picks up steam, caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq on Wednesday pinned the recent surge in terrorist attacks on the Taliban government in Afghanistan while also calling it a reaction to the deportation drive.
Addressing a press conference at the Prime Minister`s House before his departure to Tashkent, the caretaker premier said there was a 60 per cent increase in terrorism and a 500 per cent spike in suicide bombings since the Afghan Taliban came to power in August 2021
2. Punjab Grid Company gets licence
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) on Wednesday granted a transmission licence to the Punjab Grid Company Ltd (PGCL) a newly created subsidiary of the provincial government to start electricity transmission operations across the province and facilitate power plants particularly those on renewable sources that are not served by the national grid for power evacuation.
The licence would have a 30-year term ending on Nov 7, 2053, and could be renewed for as many decades as may be approved by the regulator. This will be the third provincial grid company (PGC) to have been given a transmission licence by the regulator after Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
3. Kakar arrives in Tashkent to attend ECO summit
Pakistan and Uzbekistan expressed the resolve to finalise the Strategic Partnership Agreement at the earliest to promote regional economic integration on Wednesday, soon after caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq arrived in Tashkent to attend the 16th Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO) Summit.
PM Kakar, accompanied by Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani and Commerce Minister Gohar Ejaz, was received by Prime Minister Abdullah Nagmatovich Aripov at Tashkent International Airport
4. First group of Afghan immigrants from AJK set for repatriation
In a first, illegal Afghan immigrants from Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) are set to be repatriated to Afghanistan through the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa`s Torkham border crossing on Wednesday.
Officials informed that some 245 illegal immigrants from AJK were scheduled to be deported via Torkham at different intervals, adding that the first convoy carrying 24 individuals, including men, women and kids from Muzaffarabad and Kotli areas of AJK, had reached KP

5. Working under sun linked to skin cancer deaths
Nearly one-in-three deaths from non-melanoma skin cancer are caused by working under the sun, according to joint estimates by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the International Labour Organisation (ILO).
The research released in the journal `Environment International`, finds that outdoor workers carry a large and increasing burden of non-melanoma skin cancer and calls for action to prevent this serious workplace hazard and the loss of workers` lives it causes
