6. Hungarians hold national vote in the shadow of Ukraine`s war

• Hungarians flocked to polling places on Sunday as voters in the Central European country faced a choice: take a chance on a diverse, Western-looking coalition of opposition parties, or grant nationalist Prime Minister Viktor Orban a fourth consecutive term in office.
• The contest is expected to be the closest since Orban took power in 2010, thanks to Hungary`s six main opposition parties putting aside their ideological differences to form a united front against his right-wing Fidesz party.
• Recent polls suggest a tight race but give Fidesz a slight lead. Analysts have predicted high turnout, and around 40pc of Hungary`s nearly 7.7 million eligible voters had cast a ballot by 1pm, according to the National Election Office

7. Mustansar Hussain Tarar also refuses `half` Kamal-i-Fun Award

• Renowned writer and one of the giants of Urdu novel in the country has also refused to accept the Kamal-i-Fun award announced by the Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) in Islamabad some days back, terming it controversial and tainted.
• Seraiki poet Dr Ashu Lal has already refused to accept the award immediately after its announcement, saying that he could not accept an award from `a fascist state that`s anti-people and anti-art`.
• The Kamal-1-Fun award carries prize money of Rsim too

8. Record-breaking Babar revels in Pakistan`s first ODI series victory over Australia in 20 years

• Babar Azam continues to smash records; the skipper leading from the front as Pakistan won their first One-day International series against Australia in 20 years on Saturday.
• Babar`s second consecutive century helped Pakistan secure a nine wicket victory over Australia in the final ODI at the Gaddafi Stadium, helping the hosts clinch the three-match series 2-1.
• Enroute to his knock and the win, Babar left behind former India captain Virat Kohli and Hashim Amla to script a staggering ODI world record and equalled a stunning captaincy feat of Sourav Ganguly.
• His unbeaten 105 was his 16th career ton in 84innings, making him the fastest to reach that mark

9. Healy fires Australia to thumping World Cup triumph

• Alyssa Healy produced a milestone innings in a tournament that may be transformative for women`s cricket as Australia beat England by 71 runs on April 3, 2022 to win the Women`s Cricket World Cup for the seventh time.
• Healy struck 170 from 138 balls as Australia reached 3565 to toss aside any notions that women`s limited-overs cricket is in any way staid or lacking in spectacle.
• Nat Sciver then produced an innings of almost equal quality, reaching a century from 90 balls to give hope to what seemed a hopeless England run chase. Sciver was 148 not out when England`s last wicket fell at 285 in the 44th over. While she was at the crease, Australia`s total seemed attainable

10. Afghanistan name former Pakistan players Younis, Umar as consultants

• Afghanistan have appointed former Pakistan players Younis Khan and Umar Gul as batting and bowling consultants respectively for their training camp in the United Arab Emirates, the country`s cricket board (ACB) said.
• Former captain Younis retired from international cricket in 2017 and later took up coaching, working briefly as the batting coach of Pakistan.
• Umar retired in 2020 before taking up a bowling coach role with Pakistan Super League team Quetta Gladiators the following year.
