• Tirza, a former Israeli army colonel, says his company, Yozmot Ltd, aims to produce a body-worn camera enabling police to scan crowds and detect suspects in real time, even if their faces are obscured.
• Facial recognition in law enforcement has sparked global criticism, with US tech giants backing away from providing the technology to police, citing privacy risks.

• Thailand`s prime minister arrived in Saudi Arabia on January 25, 2022 for the first high-level meeting since relations between the nations soured three decades ago over a sensational jewellary heist that led to a diplomatic row and string of mysterious killings.
• The official visit by Thai Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha to Riyadh signals the nations are seeking to thaw ties, long chilled by the 1989 scandal. Saudi Arabia downgraded its diplomatic relations with Thailand over the thef t that became known as the Blue Diamond affair. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman gave Prayuth of a royal welcome, guiding the prime minister down the lavender carpet rolled out for important state visits and taking him to the kings Al-Yamamah Palace for talks


9. Webb space telescope reaches final stop 1.5m km from Earth

• Nasa`s James Webb Space Telescope, designed to give the world an unprecedented glimpse of infant galaxies in the early stages of the universe, arrived at its gravitational parking spot in orbit around the sun, nearly 1.5 million kilometres from Earth.
• With a final five-minute, course-correcting thrust of its onboard rocket, Webb reached its destination at a position of gravitational equilibrium known as the second Sun-Earth Lagrange point, or L2, arriving one month after launch.
• The thruster was activated by mission control engineers at the Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore, Maryland, with radio signals confirming Webb was successfully `inserted` into its desired orbital loop around L2.


10. Yemeni rebels lose key battleground area after missile attack on UAE

• Yemen`s Houthi rebels were expelled from a key battleground district by UAE trained Giants Brigade fighters, the militia said on Tuesday, a day after the insurgents` latest missile attack on Abu Dhabi.
• The Iran-backed Houthis lost Harib district south of Marib, the government`s last northern stronghold which they have been fighting to seize for months.
• The Giants Brigade said `hundreds were killed and wounded on both sides` in battles that lasted for more than two weeks and also secured the neighbouring governorate of Shabwa.
• There was no immediate comment from the Houthis
