• A pregnant New Zealand journalist says she turned to the Taliban for help and is now stranded in Afghanistan after her home country has prevented her from returning due to a bottleneck of people in its coronavirus quarantine system.

9. Nasim`s five-for helps Quetta get off the mark

• Pakistan fast bowler Nasim Shah clinched a five-wicket haul as Quetta Gladiators got off the mark at the HBL Pakistan Super League after beating Karachi Kings by eight wickets here at the National Stadium on January 29, 2022.

10. `Pro-people bureaucrat` Tasneem Siddiqui passes away

• Former top civil servant and social activist Tasneem Ahmad Siddiqui who passed away from a sudden cardiac arrest at the age of 82 early on January 29, 2022 morning in Karachi, was most celebrated for his conceptualisation of the project known as Khuda Ki Basti in Hyderabad and the reinvigoration of the Sindh Katchi Abadis Authority.
• Both of his most significant professional achievements were connected to his abidingin terestin providing affordable hous-ing to the urban poor. The Khuda Ki Basti-Incremental Development Scheme (aka `City of God`) that he designed won the Aga Khan Award for Architecture in 1995 while Siddiqui`s services as a government servant were recognised by the prestigious Ramon Magsaysay Award of the Philippines government and a Sitar a-i-Imtiaz in 1999.
