6. North Korea accuses US of biological warfare in Ukraine

• North Korea accused the United States on July 24, 2022 of manufacturing biological weapons in Ukraine, echoing a Russian claim dismissed by the United Nations in March.
• Moscow ally Pyongyang in February said US policy was the `root cause of the Ukraine crisis`, and this month formally recognised two self-proclaimed pro Russian separatist regions in eastern Ukraine, prompting Kyiv to cut diplomatic ties with North Korea.
• Washington `set up many biological labs in tens of countries and regions, including Ukraine, in disregard of the international treaties`, the official Korean Central News Agency said on Sunday, citing what it said had been `detected` by Russia


7. Russian FM reassures Egypt on grain delivery

• Russia`s top diplomat reassured Egyptian leaders on July 24, 2022 that their orders for Russian grain would be met as he began a tour of African countries dependent on imports for their food supply.
• `We confirmed the commitment of Russian exporters of cereal products to meet their orders in full,` Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told a news conference after talks with Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry.
• `President Vladimir Putin stressed this during a recent telephone call with Egyptian President (Abdel Fattah) al-Sisi.` Lavrov`s visit comes hot on the heels of a landmark deal Russia and Ukraine signed on Friday with the United Nations and Turkey aimed at relieving a global food crisis caused by blocked Black Sea grain deliveries


8. Israeli forces kill two Palestinians in West Bank

• Israeli forces killed two Palestinians during an overnight raid in the occupied West Bank, officials on the two sides said July 24, 2022.
• The Israeli army said it carried out operations and used live fire in several locations, including in Nablus, adding it arrested four `individuals suspected of involvement in terrorist activities`.
• The military said `hits` were identified against multiple `terrorists` and said there were no reported wounded on its own side.
• The Palestinian health ministry identified the dead as Muhamad Azizi, 25, who it said was killed by a bullet to the chest, and Abdul Rahman Jamal Suleiman Sobh, 28, who was shot in the head


9. China launches second of three space station modules

• China on July 24, 2022 launched the second of three modules needed to complete its new space station, state media reported, the latest step in Beijing`s ambitious space programme.
• The un-crewed craft, named Wentian, was propelled by a Long March 5B rocket at 2:22pm (0622 GMT) from the Wenchang launch centre on China`s tropical island of Hainan.
• A quarter of an hour later, an official from the China Manned Space Agency (CMSA) confirmed the `success` of the launch.
• Hundreds of people gathered on nearby beaches to take photos of the launcher rising through the air in a plume of white smoke. After around eight minutes of flight, `the Wentian lab module successfully separated from the rocket and entered its intended orbit, making the launch a complete success,` the CMSA said. Beijing launched the central module of its space station Tiangong which means `heavenly palace` in April 2021


10. One Pakistani, two UK climbers summit K2

• Three climbers Mohammad Hussain from Skardu, Paul Etherdge and Peter from the UKon July 24, 2022 summited K2 (8,611).
• Sakhawat Hussain from Summit Karakoram told Dawn that the three-member team reached the top of the world`s second highest peak at 8:20am.
• So far, 148 climbers have summited the Savage Mountain in the first summit push of this summer.
• Mohammad Abbas, a Pakistani guide from the base camp, told Dawn that most of the climbers who scaled K2 returned to the base camp safely though some had to abandon their attempt half way for multiple reasons, while the remaining climbers would start attempt from base camp from Sunday night
