6. Israeli court upholds sale of Jerusalem church land to Jewish group

• Israel`s top court ruled on June 9, 2022 that a Jewish settler group legally purchased an east Jerusalem property from the Greek Orthodox Church, ending a nearly two-decade battle over the old city property.
• The Ateret Cohanim organisation, which seeks to `Judaise` Israeli-annexed east Jerusalem, bought three buildings from the church in a controversial deal struck in secret in 2004.
• The sale triggered Palestinian anger and led to the dismissal of Patriarch Irineos I the following year


7. Iran`s removal of cameras may deal `fatal blow` to nuclear talks, warns IAEA

• The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said on June 9, 2022 that Iran was removing 27 surveillance cameras at its nuclear facilities, warning this could be a `fatal blow` to negotiations to revive a landmark deal.
• Talks began in April last year to bring the United States back to the 2015 accord, lifting sanctions, and Iran back into compliance, limiting its nuclear activities.
• But negotiations have stalled since March, and raising tensions, IAEA members on Wednesday passed a resolution censuring Iran over its lack of cooperation with the watchdog


8. Tiny object hits Webb telescope

• A mirror on the James Webb Space Telescope was struck by a micrometeoroid last month, but is expected to continue to function normally, Nasa said on June 9, 2022.
• `After initial assessments, the team found the telescope is still performing at a level that exceeds all mission requirements despite a marginally detectable effect in the data,` the US space agency said.
• `Webb`s beginning-of-life performance is still well above expectations, and the observatory is fully capable of performing the science it was designed to achieve,` it added


9. Europe`s `largest predatory dinosaur` found in Britain, say scientists

• A giant crocodile faced dinosaur, discovered on the Isle of Wight by one of Britain`s best fossil hunters, was probably the largest predator ever to stalk Europe, scientists said on Thursday.
• Most of the bones of the two legged spinosaurid were found by the late local collector Nick Chase, who dedicated his life to combing the beaches of the island on England`s southern coast for dinosaur remains.
• Researchers at the University of Southampton then used the few bones available to identify what they have called the `White Rock spinosaurid`, they said in a study published in the journal Peerf


10. Aamir Liaquat passes away

• Lawmaker and television personality Aamir Liaquat Husain passed away at his home in Khudadad Colonyon June 9, 2022.
• Police told that according to his domestic staff, he was not feeling well on Wednesday night, but did not go for a medical checkup. His health deteriorated in the morning, when he was taken to the Aga Khan University Hospital, where he was pronounced as dead.
• Police Surgeon Dr. Summaiya Syed told Dawn that Aamir Liaquat`s body was brought to the Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Centre`s emergency ward around 3pm, and he was declared dead on arrival. While the body was shif ted to the mortuary for completion of medico-legal formalities, the family refused to have an autopsy conducted, she said
