1. Pakistan `remains neutral` as UNGA censures Russia

• The UN General Assembly voted to censure Russia over its invasion of Ukraine, demanded that Moscow stop fighting and urged it to immediately withdraw its military forces.
• However, in a carefully-worded statement on the Ukrainian crisis, delivered in the UN General Assembly (UNGA) on March 2, 2022, Pakistan emphasised the need to protect territorial integrity of a state without threatening the national interests of another.
• Although an overwhelming majority, 141, voted for the resolution, it remains non-binding as a resolution has to be approved by the UN Security Council to be binding


2. DSP among three martyred in Quetta blast

• At least three people, including a police official, were martyred and 25 others injured in a bomb blast in the provincial capital on March 2, 2022.
• The attack took place on the Fatima Jinnah Road that runs through a bazaar, and several shops caught fire after the bombing.
• Official sources said the powerful bomb went off near a police mobile parked in front of a shop.
• `The target of the blast was a police mobile of the station house officer of the city police,` a senior police officer said, adding that the SHO remained unhurt in the blast. A deputy superintendent of the police (DSP) sitting in the shop was martyred in the blast


3. Imran`s `prodigal` aide from Balochistan quits

• Sardar Yar Mohammad Rind, the parliamentary leader of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf in the Balochistan Assembly, has once again resigned from the office of Special Assistant to Prime Minister Imran Khan on Power and Natural Resources for Balochistan months after withdrawing a similar move on the PM`s assurance.
• While confirming the development, a spokesman for Mr Rind, Babar Yousafzai, told Dawn he had sent his resignation to PM Khan two days back.
• `Sardar Rind has disclosed his resignation in a private TV channel programme,` he added


4. Jahangir`s mausoleum complex on World Monuments Watch list

• The World Monuments Fund (WMF) has nominated Jahangir`s mausoleum complex as one of the 25 heritage sites on the World Monuments Watch.
• The WMW selection is of globally recognised heritage sites whose preservation is urgent and vital to the communities surrounding them.
• The site was nominated by cultural heritage conservationist Yasmin Cheema and her team, in partnership with the National Engineering Services Pakistan (Nespak), with support from the Directorate General of Archaeology, Punjab, says a press release


5. Former SC chief justice Khosa selected for prestigious award

• The International Institute for Justice Excellence (IlJE) an international organisation based in The Hague, The Netherlands (Holland) has selected former chief justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa for the Administration of Justice Excellence Award, 2022.
• A formal ceremony to present the award to Justice Khosa is expected in The Hague in the next few weeks.
• The selection of Justice Khosa was made by llJE an international Non-political, Non-profit Institution, dedicated to improving The Administration of Justice, was finalised on Feb 28, 2022 The criteria for selection for the award was demonstration of leadership in improving the administration of justice through the application of modern management techniques; supporting the independence of the judiciary, contributing to the development and implementation of reforms to improve access to, and the administration of justice, increasing proficiencies of other administrators or court staff through service, teaching, and/or contributing to the field through exchange of information relating to court administration; and distinguished service and contributions to the profession having relevance at a State, national or international level
