6. Pakistan`s N-regulatory body effective, says IAEA mission

• The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has said that new and updated nuclear safety regulations in Pakistan have significantly updated and strengthened nuclear and radiation safety in the country.
• The agency`s Integrated Regulatory Review Service (IRRS) team, which recently completed its mission in Pakistan, however noted a few areas where challenges remain, including a continued focus on decommissioning, spent fuel management and radioactive waste disposal, according to an IAEA press release.
• The team visited Pakistan at the government`s request and concluded an eight-day follow-up mission earlier this month to review the country`s implementation of recommendations and suggestions made during an initial IRRS mission in 2014. The follow up mission was hosted by the Pakistan Nuclear Regulatory Authority (PNRA).

7. ADB reiterates support to Pakistan

• Asian Development Bank Vice-President Shixin Chen has reiterated ADB`s commitment to supporting Pakistan`s economic recovery from the Covid pandemic and the country`s development agenda.
• In a statement issued on Saturday at the end of his five-day visit to Pakistan, Mr Chen said the people of Pakistan have shown remarkable resilience in the face of Covid-19 and the country`s rapidly building momentum towards economic recovery is testament to this.
• `As one of Pakistan`s largest development partners, the ADB has taken swift actions to support Pakistan`s vaccination and social protection efforts, and external financing requirements, Mr Chen said

8. Egypt unveils five ancient tombs in Saqqara necropolis

• Egypt unveiled on March 19, 2022 five ancient Pharaonic tombs at the Saqqara archaeological site south of Cairo, the latest in a series of landmark discoveries in the area.
• Saqqara is a vast necropolis of the ancient Egyptian capital Memphis, a Unesco World Heritage Site home to more than a dozen pyramids, animal burial sites and ancient Coptic Christian monasteries.
