6. Australian leader decries China`s interference

• Australia`s prime minister accused China on April 30, 2022 of `form`, or a record, on interference in foreign politics, after his home minister said Beijing`s unveiling of a security deal with the nearby Solomon Islands was timed to influence an election.

8. Turkey air force pulls out of military exercise in Athens

• Turkey`s air force has pulled out of a military exercise scheduled to be held in Greece next month, security sources said on April 30, 2022 alleging that preparatory documents singled out Ankara.
• The military exercise dubbed `Tiger Meet` is intended to promote solidarity between the participating states` fleets and is held annually.
• This year, it will take place in Athens between May 9 and 20.
• Turkish security sources said host countries draft a text each year made up of technical regulations ahead of the planned exercise and this year, Greece targeted Turkey in the said document


9. No sanctions, but US wants Delhi to break from Russia

• US Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken has suggested encouraging India to voluntarily disengage from Russia instead of slapping sanctions on New Delhi for buying oil and weapons from Moscow.
• `Where we can, it is far preferable to get countries to voluntarily not engage in these practices, and that`s where our diplomacy is focused,` Mr Blinken said at one of his several congressional hearings in Washington this week.
• Democratic senators urged Secretary Blinken at these hearings to put more pressure on India for continuing to do business with Russia despite its invasion of Ukraine


10. ANP lawmaker Waqar dies of cardiac arrest

• Awami National Party MPA Waqar Ahmad Khan died of cardiac arrest here on April 30, 2022.
• Mr Ahmad belonged to Shah Dheri area and was the nephew of ANP Swat central joint secretary Khan Nawab.
• The lawmaker was elected MPA from the PK-7 constituency during the last general elections.
• He was also elected as a member of the provincial assembly in the general elections of 2008. He remained part of the then ANP government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
