6. Ukraine regions made `free choice in favour of Russia`: Moscow

• Moscow`s foreign ministry said on Wednesday that Russian-occupied regions in Ukraine made a `conscious and free choice` to join Russia after Kremlin proxies organised so-called referendums in the territories they control.
• `The results of the plebiscites speak for themselves: the people of the Donbas, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions do not want to go back to their old lives and have made a conscious and free choice in favour of Russia,` the ministry said in a statement.
• The statement came after the Moscow-installed leaders in the three regions asked President Vladimir Putin to formally annex the territories

• The World Health Organisation (WHO) and the International Labour Organisation (ILO) have called for concrete actions to address mental health concerns in the working population, saying that an estimated 12 billion workdays are lost annually due to depression and anxiety, costing the global economy nearly $1 trillion.
• Two new publications, aimed at addressing the issue, were published on September 28, 2022, including WHO`s guidelines on mental health at work and a derivative WHO/ILO policy brief.
• WHO`s global guidelines on mental health at work recommend actions to tackle risks to mental health such as heavy workloads, negative behaviours and other factors that create distress at work


8. Israeli forces kill four Palestinians

• Israeli forces killed four Palestinians in the occupied West Bank on September 28, 2022, pursuing a half year-long campaign of raids triggered by a series of lethal street attacks in Israel.
• Commandos, some of them undercover, were sent into the town of Jenin to capture two Palestinians suspected of carrying out ambushes, Israeli police said. It claimed Palestinians opened fire and set off a bomb, and were shot, the statement claimed.
• The raid touched off clashes elsewhere in Jenin that along with neighbouring Nablus has been a focus of Israeli forces. Some 40 Palestinians were wounded, medics said.

• The outgoing commander, Russian cosmonaut Oleg Artemyev, used the occasion to seemingly make a rare space-bound reference to the war in Ukraine, saying that `despite the storms on Earth, our international cooperation continues`.
• During a relaxed ceremony, Artemyev handed Cristoforetti a golden key, symbolising that she is the new commander of the space station until she returns to Earth on October 10
