• The US urged Pakistan and India on Wednesday to hold direct talks on issues of mutual concern.
• US State Department Spokesman Matthew Miller made this suggestion while commenting on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif`s latest offer of talks between the two nuclear armed neighbors.
• `As we have long said, we support direct dialogue between India and Pakistan on issues of concern,` Mr. Miller said


7. Premium YouTube for Pakistan

• YouTube introduced its premium and music services to users in Pakistan on Wednesday, allowing them to watch videos uninterrupted by ads, while using other apps or when the screen is locked; download videos for offline play; and listen to music without interruptions.
• `YouTube Premium offers the ultimate viewing experience on YouTube, the video-sharing service said in a statement.
• The service also includes YouTube Music Premium, which offers ad-free music, background play and downloads on YouTube Music

8. Beijing records its heaviest rainfall in 140 years

• Rains that pummelled Beijing in recent days were the heaviest since records began 140 years ago, the city`s weather service said on Wednesday.
• `The maximum (amount) of rainfall recorded during this storm, which was 744.8 millimetres, occurred at the Wangjiayuan Reservoir in Changping,` the Beijing Meteorological Service said, adding it was the `heaviest rainfall in 140 years`


9. Nigeria cuts electricity to Niger after coup

• Nigeria has cut its electricity supply to Niger after West African neighbours imposed sanctions on the junta that ousted the country`s elected leader last week, a Niger power company source said on Wednesday.
• `Since yesterday, Nigeria has disconnected the high voltage line transporting electricity to Niger,` a source at Niger`s power company Nigelee said.
• Niger depends on Nigeria for 70 per cent of its power, buying it from the Nigerian company Mainstream, according to Nigelec, the country`s monopoly supplier


10. Haryana tensions spill over into neighbouring states

• Tensions ran high in Haryana and its neighbouring states on Wednesday, with riot police patrolling neighbourhoods on the outskirts of the Indian capital as authorities issued prohibitory orders across the Nuh district, banning the sale of loose petrol or diesel in the aftermath of two days of communal violence that saw several shops, shanties and a mosque set ablaze.
• The death toll climbed to six on the third day of clashes between Hindus and Muslims, while internet services also remained shut in four tehsils of Rajasthan`s Bharatpur district, NDTV quoted officials as saying
