1. Army chief rules out any further talks with terrorists

• Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir on Monday ruled out the re-initiation of dialogue with the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan, saying they had no option but to submit to the writ of state, or they would be decimated.
• Pakistan has repeatedly raised concerns over the use of Afghan soil by militants for cross-border terrorism and an uptick in terror activities, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, has been witnessed after the banned outfit called off a ceasefire in November 2022.

2. Broken track, missing fishplates blamed for rail crash

3. FO pins onus on India to `shun belligerence`

• Days after India blamed Pakistan for not creating a conducive environment for talks, the Foreign Office, in its rejoinder has put the onus on New Delhi for creating an environment for dialogue and peace in the region Addressing the weekly press briefing on Monday, Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said dialogue was important between Pakistan and India in an environment which is `free of coercion and free of belligerence that India continues to demonstrate in the region`.

4. SIFC approves key projects to attract investment

• The third apex committee meeting of Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) on Monday approved multiple projects presented by various ministries to attract investments from friendly countries, under the umbrella of the council, in key sectors like agriculture, livestock, mining, minerals, information technology and energy.
• The meeting was presided over by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and was attended by Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Syed Asim Munir, chief ministers, federal and provincial ministers and top officials


5. Minister withdraws Pemra amendment bill

• While all the key stakeholders were onboard, the PML-N government on Monday succumbed to the demands of a few TV anchor persons and withdrew the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2023.
• In a sharp tone and with teary eyes, Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb announced the withdrawal of the bill in a meeting of Senate standing committee on information.
• The committee was chaired by Senator Fawzia Arshad and attended by the representatives of journalists and media organisations
