1. Delimitation to have little impact on NA seats

  • Although three districts should see the number of their National Assembly seats rise, it is unlikely that the fresh delimitation exercise would make any significant changes to the number of National Assembly seats in most districts throughout the country, a thorough examination of the official results of the firstever digital census reveals.

  • At least 19 members of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa`s caretaker cabinet on Thursday tendered their resignations to interim chief minister Azam Khan, which were prompted by their purported involvement in politics.
  • Sources told Dawn that the caretaker CM received the resignations from caretaker ministers over a cup of tea. `Not that the caretaker members resigned but the resignations were demanded by the caretaker chief minister as [at least] two members of the caretaker cabinet resisted by saying they were not involved in politics neither did they hold any political gathering,` they added

3. Tarbela attains maximum water storage level

  • The country`s mega reservoir Tarbela Dam has almost touched its maximum water storage level as it is just one foot from its maximum conservation level of 1,550 feet.
    According to a report, shared by the Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda), the Tarbela Dam`s minimum operating level is 1,402 feet whereas its present level, recorded on Thursday morning, was 1,549 feet just one foot less than the maximum conservation level of 1,550 feet. The live storage was recorded as 5.752 MAF (millions acre feet).

4. PIA gets permanent CEO after 15 months

  • Former air vice marshal Muhammad Amir Hayat has been appointed as the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) chief executive officer, the national carrier`s spokesperson confirmed on Thursday.
  • Mr Hayat has been appointed for one year, according to Abdullah Hafeez Khan, however, the official notification in this regard is yet to be issued.
    He had been serving as acting CEO since April 2022, after the retirement of the former CEO retired air marshal Arshad Malik

5. KP approves rules to make juvenile justice system operational

  • The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has approved the much-awaited Juvenile Justice System Rules 2023 to make the 2018 juvenile law fully operational for benefitting child offenders.
    The rules, prepared by the provincial home and tribal affairs department, include detail provisions about different important aspects of the Juvenile Justice System Act, 2018.
  • An official said that the provincial caretaker cabinet gave approvalto the rules in its meeting on Wednesday night. The rules would be notified after minutes of the meeting were released
