6. Drone hits US base in Iraq
A drone attack on Monday targeted a military base in northern Iraq used by US-led forces. The number of attacks targeting the coalition, which deployed troops to Iraq to fight the militant Islamic State group, has surged since the start of the Gaza crisis on Oct 7.
In Monday`s incident a drone was launched towards a base close to Arbil airport, in Iraqi Kurdistan, the Iraqi prime minister`s spokesman said in a statement.
The attack caused injuries, he said, without giving further details
7. Israeli strike kills senior Iran Guards general in Syria
A senior general with Iran`s Revolutionary Guards was killed on Monday by an Israeli air strike in Syria, the military force and Iranian state media said.
There was no immediate comment from Israel, which has repeatedly said it will not allow archenemy Iran to expand its presence in Syria
8. Indian army `orders probe` into custodial deaths of Kashmiris
Three days after the death of at least three Kashmiri civilians after being tortured in the custody of Indian forces whose video leak sparked outrage in the disputed region, a military official said on Monday that the Indian army launched an investigation into the incident and moved senior officers from the disputed area, though the defence spokesperson claimed he was unaware of any inquiry.
Residents in the area said that the civilians had been detained for questioning after an alleged attack on Indian army vehicles on Thursday, killing four soldiers.A purported video clip showing Indian personnel stripping three men and sprinkling chili powder on them has gone viral on social media, causing widespread outrage in the region
9. Japan`s moon lander enters orbit
Japan`s SLIM space probe entered the Moon`s orbit on Monday in a major step towards the country`s first successful lunar landing, expected next month.
The Smart Lander for Investigating Moon (SLIM) is nicknamed the `Moon Sniper` because it is designed to land within 100 metres (328 feet) of a specific target on the lunar surface
10. Actor Nisar Qadri passes away
Veteran actor Nisar Qadri passed away on Monday at the age of 82 years.
His funeral prayers were offered at the Eidgah Ground in Chaklala, which were attended by friends and family. The deceased has left behind a wife and three children.
Nisar Qadri started his illustrious career with Radio Pakistan in 1966 and later switched to television where he worked for decades
