6. Xi hails Iran`s `solidarity` during `complex` world situation

• Chinese President Xi Jinping hailed Beijing`s `solidarity` with Iran on February 14, 2023 as he hosted the Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi at the start of a three-day trip.
• For the first state visit by an Iranian president to China in more than 20 years, Raisi has brought a large trade and finance delegation to Beijing and was earlier greeted by Xi on a red carpet.
• `In the face of the current complex changes in the world, times, and history, China and Iran have supported each other (and) worked together in solidarity and cooperation,` Xi said, according to state broadcaster CCTV

• Camilla, wife of Britain`s King Charles, will wear the crown of Queen Mary for her coronation in May, Buckingham Palace said, avoiding the use of a crown featuring the disputed 105-carat Koh-i-Noor diamond which India has demanded be returned.
• The Koh-i-Noor, one of the largest cut diamonds in the world, was taken from India by the East India Company during the colonial era and presented to Queen Victoria.
• It is set in a crown last worn by Charles`s grandmother during her coronation


8. Palestinian teenager killed during West Bank raid

• Israeli troops shot dead a Palestinian teenager in the occupied West Bank early on February 14, 2023, Palestinian officials said, with the army saying troops opened fire after the suspect approached them with explosives.
• The Palestinian health ministry said Mahmud Majid Mohammed al-Aidi, 17, died from `critical wounds he sustained by live occupation (Israeli) bullets to the head` at Al-Fara refugee camp north of Nablus.
• The army said Israeli troops carried out `counterterrorism operations` in several West Bank towns and cities early on Tuesday


9. Tax officials raid BBC offices after Modi documentary

• Indian tax authorities raided the BBC`s offices in New Delhi and Mumbai on February 14, 2023, weeks after the broadcaster aired a documentary critical of Prime Minister Narendra Modi`s actions in the Gujarat riots.
• Police sealed off the New Delhi office, which occupies two floors, and half a dozen officers were stationed outside to prevent people from entering or leaving.
• Press freedom in the world`s biggest democracy has suffered during Modi`s tenure, rights activists say, and the country`s opposition parties along with journalists described the move as vindictive and as an expression of undeclared emergency. The raids have raised fears of censorship in India
