6. Israel kills 20 Palestinians in strike on queue
Authorities in Gaza Strip said on Thursday that Israeli forces had killed 20 people waiting for humanitarian aid to be distributed, as Israel pressed its blistering assault in the besieged territory.
The Hamas-run health ministry in Gaza said the attack occurred on the outskirts of Gaza City, in the north of the territory, with 150 people also wounded
7. Iraq, US to hold talks on future of coalition troops
Baghdad and Washington have agreed to set up a committee to start talks on the future of the US-led military coalition in Iraq with the aim of setting a timetable for a phased withdrawal of troops and the coalition`s end, Iraq`s foreign ministry said.
The United States has 2,500 troops in Iraq, advising and assistinglocalforces to prevent a resurgence of the militant Islamic State group, which in 2014 seized large parts of Iraq and Syria before being defeated. Hundreds of troops from mostly European countries are also part of the coalition
8. US assails Israeli attack on UN facility in Gaza
The United States has condemned the Israeli assault on a UN facility in Khan Yunis, emphasising the protection of civilians and the need to respect the sanctity of UN facilities.
`You`ve heard me say it before, you`ve heard [Secretary of State Antony Blinken] say it before… civilians must be protected, and the protected nature of UN facilities must be respected,` the State Department`s spokesperson Vedant Patel told reporters in Washington
9. British museums to return looted royal Ghana treasures
The British Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum will give back gold and silver artifacts looted during colonial times from Ghana`s Asante royal court, the museums and the palace said on Thursday.
The Ghana agreement for a long-term loan of the items comes as international momentum grows for museums and institutions to restore African artefacts from former colonial powers Britain, France, Germany and Belgium
10. Japanese craft makes successful, pin-point Moon landing
Japan`s `Moon Sniper` craft made a pinpoint lunar landing despite last-minute engine problems, the space agency said on Thursday as it released the first images from the mission.
A photo taken by a mini rover showed the boxy yellow lander sitting intact at a slight angle on the rocky grey surface, lunar slopes rising in the distance.
