1. Pakistan to work with Iran on border issues: COAS

• Chief of the Army Staff Gen Asim Munir met Iran`s top military leaders on July 15, 2023 to discuss bilateral matters relating to defence and security cooperation and stressed that Pakistan was ready to solidify the ties and use the most suitable solutions to address security challenges and the presence and activities of terrorist elements at the border.
• Gen Munir, who reached Iran on a two-day visit on Saturday with a high-ranking military delegation, met Iran`s top general, Mohammad Hossein Bagheri, in Tehran and discussed ways to improve bilateral interactions `to develop the level of cooperation in different fields, including defence, security, military and training`, Iran`s Mehr News Agency reported

• Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has strongly rebuked Afghanistan for `neglecting its duties as a neighbouring and fraternal country`, and for disregarding vital obligations made in the Doha peace agreement, specifically its commitment to prevent the use of Afghan soil for terrorist activities, Dawn.com reported on Saturday.
• The minister`s statement comes just a day after the armed forces of Pakistan voiced `serious concerns regarding the safe havens and freedom of movement enjoyed` by the proscribed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) within Afghanistan

4. Deaths in violent incidents saw 21pc decline in Apr-Jun: CRSS

• With a noticeable decrease in the overall number of fatalities, the second quarter of 2023 saw an almost 21 per cent decline in violence, data by the Center for Research and Security Studies (CRSS) suggested.
• The number of fatalities decreased from 358 in the first quarter to 284 in the next, asper are port.

6. India ties up with UAE to settle trade in rupees

• India has signed an agreement with the United Arab Emirates that will allow it to settle trade in rupees instead of dollars, boosting India`s efforts to cut transaction costs by eliminating dollar conversions.

• Sudanese army representatives have returned to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia for talks with their paramilitary foes, a government source said on July 15, 2023 as the war between rival generals entered its fourth month.
• `A delegation of the armed forces has returned to Jeddah to resume negotiations with Rapid Support Forces (RSF) rebels,` the source said.
• The RSF has made no comment on returning to the talks in Jeddah, which Saudi and US mediators adjourned last month after a series of repeatedly violated ceasefires

9. China calls on India to meet `halfway` on border issue

• China`s top diplomat urged India to focus on `common interests` and meet China `halfway` to defuse border tensions between Asia`s most populous neighbours, the Chinese foreign ministry said on July 15, 2023.
• Relations between India and China have deteriorated in recent months over their contested Himalayan border, and a visa spat in which the two sides have expelled nearly all of each other`s journalists

10. UAE and India vow COP28 success as record heatwaves sweep world

• As record heat is forecast around the world from the United States to Europe and Japan, the UAE and India vowed on July 15, 2023 to make this year`s COP28 conference in Dubai a success.
• `The UAE and India are united in their determination to ensure the successful outcome of COP28 as an inclusive and action oriented conference,` read a statement following talks in Abu Dhabi between UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Indian PM Narendra Modi
