6. Neom will compete with Miami, says Saudi Prince

• Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman (MBS) has said that the country`s flagship project Neom will compete with US coastal city Miami in terms of entertainment, culture, sports and retail.
• Appearing in a documentary shown by Discovery Channel on Monday, Crown Prince unveiled the salient features of The LINE project within Neom, the first smart city of its kind in the world with no roads, cars or emissions.
• Speaking about Neom, Crown Prince said, it is to create the new civilisation of tomorrow and encourage other nations to keep doing similar things for the benefit of the planet.


7. US top court rejects bid to give lawmakers unchecked power over elections

• The US Supreme Court on Tuesday declined to give politicians at the state level more power over federal elections by limiting the ability of state courts to review their actions, handing a defeat to Republican lawmakers in North Carolina.
• The 6-3 decision, authored by conservative Chief Justice John Roberts, upheld a 2022 ruling by the North Carolina Supreme Court against the Republican legislators.
• In doing so, the high court declined to embrace a once-marginal legal theory now favoured by many conservatives that would remove any role of state courts and state constitutions in regulating presidential and congressional elections.


8. Netanyahu invited to China amid tense US-Israel ties

• Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said he has been invited to China and his office has informed close ally the United States about the planned trip to Beijing.
• The Tuesday announcement comes amid apparently tense ties between the leadership of Israel and the US, as President Joe Biden has so far failed to invite Netanyahu for a visit after the Israeli`s re-election in November 2022.
• `The projected visit will be Prime Minister Netanyahu`s fourth visit to China,` Netanyahu`s office said in a statement, noting `the American administration was updated one month ago`. It said the premier had also informed a bipartisan Congressional delegation about the trip, and told the Congress members that the `US will always be Israel`s most vital and irreplaceable ally` A spokesman for Netanyahu could not provide further details on the planned trip or when it was expected to happen


9. Russian renegade Prigozhin arrives in Belarus

• Belarus welcomed the head of the Wagner mercenary group Yevgeny Prigozhin into exile on Tuesday as Russia`s President Vladimir Putin sought to shore up his authority by thanking regular troops for averting a civil war.
• Putin initially vowed to crush the mutiny, comparing it to the wartime turmoil that ushered in the revolution of 1917 and then a civil war, but hours later a deal was clinched to allow Prigozhin and some of his fighters to go to Belarus


10. World Cup to begin on Oct 5, Ahmedabad mega stadium to host final

• The Cricket World Cup will begin on October 5 with England facing New Zealand at the world`s biggest cricket stadium in Ahmedabad and the same venue hosting the final on November 19, organisers said on Tuesday, with the schedule for the showpiece in India also confirming Pakistan`s participation.
• The most-awaited clash between rivals India and Pakistan will be played in the same potentially contentious venue on October 15, after the hosts kick off their campaign against Australia a week earlier in Chennai.
• The fixtures were revealed by the International Cricket Council during an event in Mumbai, less than four months before the start of the 50-overs tournament, with the delay partly due to sour political relations between India and Pakistan
