1. Govt firm on repatriation plan amid criticism

The government on Friday doubled down on its policy to evict all illegal immigrants including around 1.7 million Afghan refugees from the country, saying that the decision was in line with international practices.

2. Balochistan to enforce apex committee decisions

The Balochistan government, in a high-level meeting on Friday, decided to fully implement the decisions and directives of the Apex Committee, including the detention and subsequent deportation of illegal immigrants under the Foreign Act.
Provincial ministers, Chief Secretary Shakeel Khan, Additional Chief Secretary Saleh Nasar and other officials attended the meeting, which aimed to enhance coordination among various agencies in implementing the action points of the National Action Plan as per the Apex Committee`s decisions

3. Pakistan among countries worst affected by preterm births: study

Pakistan is among the worst-affected countries in southern Asia and sub-Saharan Africa where around 65 per cent of preterm births occurred in 2020, according to a detailed study, published in a journal authored by the WHO, Unicef and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
The rates in the worse affected countries -Bangladesh (16.2 per cent), Malawi(14.5pc) and Pakistan (14.3pc) are three or four times higher than those in the least affected countries Serbia (3.8pc), Moldova (4pc) and Kazakhstan (4.7pc)


4. Pakistani space tourist comes back down to Earth

Virgin Galactic made history by launching the first Pakistani woman into space on Friday, taking Namira Salim to the final frontier alongside two other travellers.
This was Virgin`s fourth commercial spaceflight.

5. Jailed Iranian activist awarded Nobel Peace Prize

Imprisoned Iranian women`s rights advocate Narges Mohammadi won the Nobel Peace Prize on Friday in a rebuke to Tehran`s theocratic leaders and boost for anti-government protesters.
The award-making committee said the prize honoured those behind recent unprecedented demonstrations in Iran and called for the release of Mohammadi, 51, who has campaigned for three decades for women`s rights and abolition of the death penalty
