A tsunami can have wavelengths of 100 to 200 km, and may travel hundreds of kilometers across the deep ocean, reaching speed s of about 725 to 800 km/h. • The PM wore a kerchief around his head during the ceremony to show respect to the Sikh sentiments, as it is inappropriate for Sikhs to visit a shrine bareheaded.
• Prime Minister Imran Khan began his address to the ceremony by congratulated the Sikh community on the 550th birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak and said that he was pleased to see the happiness on the faces of pilgrims on this historic occasion.

• A staff mission of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on November 8, 2019 concluded its visit to Pakistan with all praise to authorities for over-performing on first quarter targets under the $6 billion Extended Fund Facility to pave the disbursement of $450 million early next month.
• The mission led by Ernesto Ramirez-Rigo, however, hinted at a couple of minor shortcomings that authorities would need to deliver before IMF executive board takes up for formal approval of the staff-level agreement. These related to power sector tariffs and effective taxation on cigarettes.
• The Fund also lowered inflation outlook for FY20 at 11.8 per cent average against its 13pc estimate only a few days ago as part of its regional economic outlook.
• That, in a sense, was an indicator towards possibility of lower discount rates in coming monetary policy by end of this month. The saving rates have already been lowered this week following decline in secondary market yields on bonds.

• France`s President Emmanuel Macron had criticised Nato as suffering from `brain-death` prompting a sharp rebuke from German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
• Dismissing the debate around Macron`s comments as `kerfuffle,` Pompeo acknowledged that `Nato needs to grow and change, it needs to confront the realities of today and the challenges today.` These threats include those posed by governments like China, Russia and Iran, Pompeo said, speaking just a few metres (yards) away from where the Wall ran past the German capital`s world-famous Brandenburg Gate.

The target posed no problems for the hosts who blasted their way to 109 in only 11.5 overs as captain Aaron Finch and David Warner ran riot.
• Finch (52 not out) and Warner (48 not out) entertained the modest Perth crowd experiencing their first T20 International in nine years with a lusty display of twilight hitting which produced five sixes and eight fours and saw Australia cruise home with 53 balls to spare.

The Objectives Resolution (1949) | Pakistan Affairs Notes for CSS-PMS

The Objectives Resolution was the first constitutional document that proved to be the ‘foundation’ of the constitutional developments in Pakistan. It provided parameters and sublime principles to the legislators. It made the constitution-making process easy task setting some particular objectives before them that would be acceptable to the people of Pakistan who had suffered a lot under the Hindu-dominated majority. The Resolution was moved by Liaquat Ali Khan, the then Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, and approved on March 12, 1949.

The Constituent Assembly (1947-54)

The first Constituent Assembly came into existence under Indian Independence Act 1947. The elections were held in July 1946 to decide the destiny of the All India Muslim League (AIML)’s claim that it is the only representative party of the Indian Muslims that desire separate homeland, Pakistan. The members from the districts that became part of Pakistan were declared members of the Constituent Assembly. The number of such members was 69. It increased to 79 after the 1947 when some states joined Pakistan and then increase in the population. There were two major parties, Muslim League and Congress in the Assembly at that time. This Assembly had dual functions to perform.
