The Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) will start online registration of candidates intending to sit in Central Superior Services (CSS) examinations, 2021 from today (October 5). According to official sources, the last date for the submission of applications on FPSC web portal is November 3.
The federal government has finalised preparations to hold the special Central Superior Service (CSS) exams in December this year, according to Geo News.
PM Imran Khan had, on May 4, issued directions for the special CSS exams to be held this year. The Establishment Division sources revealed to Geo News that a summary has been sent to the federal cabinet and the prime minister for approval to hold the exams this December.
The exams will be held for 188 vacancies for Grade 17 officers. These 188 vacancies have not been filled over the past four years.

Roll numbers and names of 365 finally qualified candidates of CSS Competitive Examination 2019 are given below in the order of merit. 214 are recommended by FPSC for appointment to posts in BS-17 under Federal Government in various Groups/Services as mentioned against each:-
It is submitted that in all 39,630 online applications were received for CE 2020. After processing of data in IT Wing, a list of ineligible candidates was provided. After scrutinizing the applications 3,471 candidates were actually found ineligible due to various reasons and their candidature have been proposed for rejection in terms of CSS Competitive Examination Rules 2019. However, out of these ineligible candidates, 01 candidate has submitted hardcopy of online application form unsigned, who may be allowed to appear in the examination provisionally subject to provision of Treasury Receipt of Rs.250/- as fine in FPSC head of account in terms of Rule 11 (8) of CE Rules 2019. CSS Exams 2020 will be starting from February 12th 2020.
The government has decided to reduce the age limit for CSS exams by two years.
According to sources, the government has proposed to reduce the age limit from 30 years to 28 years. The age limit for the examination of government employees has also been reduced by four years from 32 years.
The government is currently in the process of introducing a pre-screening test before participants can appear for the actual CSS examination. Following the PM’s approval, the proposal is now all set to come before parliament. The PM’s Special Adviser on Establishment says these changes are synonymous with the PM’s vision of transparency, integrity and efficiency-based governance. According to the adviser, the screening process will also split candidates into three groups: the Pakistan Administrative Service, Inland Revenue Service, and the International Relations group. Even though federal officials claim these reforms aim to eradicate the “superiority complex and lingering colonial mindset”, they seem to forget that the Civil Service itself is a derivation of the colonial legacy.
It is notified that following candidate have been qualified in the written part of CSS Competitive Examination 2019 subject to observance of Rule 11(20) of CE Rules 2019
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on October 8, 2019 appointed eminent lawyers Babar Sattar, Khawaja Haris and Ahmer Bilal Soofi as amici curiae for scrutiny of the quota system for induction in the Central Superior Services (CSS).
The court on a petition filed by 34 candidates for the CSS exam from Punjab also sought comments from the federal government.
