1. India shamed over anti-Pakistan disinformation network

• A day after the disclosure of a disinformation network being run by India for 15 years to discredit nations it is in conflict with, Islamabad advised Delhi to stop churning out false propaganda against its rivals and focus on its internal problems.
• Speaking at a weekly press briefing, Foreign Office spokesman Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri condemned India for systematic tactic of a mass propaganda cam-paign to malign Pakistan and international institutions


2. PIA launches Quetta-Turbat operation

• Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) on December 10, 2020 started operating flights from Quetta to Turbat to facilitate the residents of southern Balochistan.
• PIA spokesman Abdullah Hafeez Khan said the airline had launched two-way flights between Quetta and Turbat on Thursday and would operate flights two times a week on the route.
• The first PIA flight PK-525departed from Quetta to Turbat at 12 noon, while the second flight would be operated on Dec 19 (Saturday)


3. Russia to take part in naval exercises off Pakistan`s coast

• Russia`s navy on December 10, 2020 said it would join a military exercises next year that will become its first joint drill with NATO countries in a decade.
• In a statement on December 9, 2020, Russia`s Southern Military District said the country`s navy would participate in the Aman-2021 exercise that was due to take place in February off the coast of Pakistan.
• A total of 30 countries will take part in the drills, with 10 engaging their Beets and the rest sending observers


4. PN assumes multinational task force`s command in Bahrain

• In a formal change of command ceremony held at HQ Combined Maritime Forces (CMF), Bahrain, on December 10, 2020, Pakistan Navy assumed command of the multinational Combined Task Force 151 (CTF-151) for the ninth time. Commodore Abdul Munib took over the command from Rear Admiral (LH) Nejat Inanir of the Turkish Navy.
• According to information received here, while addressing the audience the incoming commander of CTF-151, Commodore Abdul Munib, said his team was fully geared to shoulder this significant responsibility


5. Reza appointed deputy chairman of IFSB

• The Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB) Council in its 37th meeting on December 10, 2020 appointed State Bank of Pakistan Governor Dr Reza Baqir as the deputy chairman of the council for the year 2021.
• The council is the highest level policy making body comprising the central bank governors and heads of the leading regulatory and supervisory authorities


6. Afghanistan, Iran open first rail network

• An Iranian goods train carrying tonnes of agricultural products chugged into a western Afghan province on December 10, 2020 as the two countries marked the opening of their first shared railway network.
• The train route so far links the Iranian city of Khaf with the Afghan town of Rozanak about 150 kilometres away, but is scheduled to be expanded to reach Herat, Afghanistan`s third largest city.
• The $75 million project began in 2007, with Iran funding construction on both sides of the border as part of its development assistance to Afghanistan


7. Macron gives Sisi France`s highest award, sparks controversy

• French President Emmanuel Macron gave his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah al Sisi his country`s highest award on his state visit to Paris this week, a presidential official said on December 10, 2020, adding to controversy over the hugely contentious trip.
• Activists who had warned Macron not to roll out the red carpet to Sisi were already enraged by the French leader`s refusal to condition deepening defence and trade ties with Egypt on its respect for human rights.


8. Israel, Morocco agree to normalise ties: Trump

• Israel and Morocco have agreed to normalise relations, President Donald Trump said on December 9, 2020, marking the fourth Arab-Israeli agreement in four months. As part of the deal announced near the end of Trump`s term, the United States will recognise Morocco`s claim over the disputed Western Sahara region.
• Trump said Israel and Morocco would restore diplomatic and other relations, including the immediate reopening of liaison offices in Tel Aviv and Rabat and the eventual opening of embassies. US officials said there would be joint overflight rights for airlines


9. Afghan woman journalist shot dead in Jalalabad

• A female Afghan news anchor and activist was shot dead by assailants on December 9, 2020, her employer said, the second journalist killed in a month in Afghanistan.
• Malalai Malwand, in her 20s, was killed along with her driver Mohammad Tahir in Jalalabad as they travelled to work, said Enekaas TV, the private television channel she worked for.


10. Italy`s 1982 World Cup hero Rossi dies

• Paolo Rossi, the hero of Italian football who inspired the national side to victory in the 1982 World Cup, has died of cancer aged 64, Italian media reported on December 10, 2020.
• They paid tribute to `Pablito`, the star who was banned for his part in a betting scandal but returned to win the World Cup and the Ballon D`Or the same year
