6. Tunisian president dissolves judicial watchdog, alleges bias

• Tunisian President Kais Saied on February 6, 2022 dissolved a top independent judicial watchdog accusing it of bias, the latest controversial move since he sacked the government last year.
• Saied has broadened his grip on power since July 25 when he sacked the government and froze parliament before later moving to rule by decree in Tunisia the cradle of the 2011 Arab Spring uprisings that ousted a series of autocratic leaders.

• Ms Mangeshkar was admitted to the Breach Candy Hospital in January after testing positive for the deadly virus.
• Her songs were popular across South Asia and beyond, and it was not unusual for strangers from varied cultures to hum her melodies doing their daily chores. A Senegalese cabbie in Chicago, for example, left his Indian passengers dumbstruck by breaking into a less heard but essentially a beautiful Lata Mangeshkar song from the 1960s. • But England, looking to win only their second title, kept chapping away and reduced the opposition to 97-4 before a 67-run stand between Sindhu (50 not out) and Bawa (35)swung the momentum back in India`s favour
