6. Taliban reveal burial place of founder Mullah Omar

• The Taliban on November 6, 2022 revealed the final resting place of the movement`s founder, Mullah Omar, whose death and burial they kept secret for years.
• Rumours surrounding Omar`s health and whereabouts abounded after the Taliban were kicked out of power in 2001 by a US-led invasion, and they only admitted in April 2015 that he had died two years earlier.
• Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said that senior leaders of the movement attended a ceremony at his gravesite earlier in the day near Omarzo, in Suri district of Zabul province


7. Five killed in attack on mly camp in Somalia

• Five people were killed in a suicide bombing targeting a military training camp in Somalia, army officials said on Sunday, in an attack claimed by Al Shabaab jihadists one week after twin blasts left 116 dead.
• Saturday`s attack on the camp in Somalia`s capital Mogadishu came as the government intensifies its fight against the Islamists who have led a 15-year insurgency in the troubled Horn of Africa nation.
• `The suicide bomb explosion occurred at the entrance and five new recruits died in the blast, more than ten others were wounded,` military officer Mohamed Abdullahi said

8. Americans to vote tomorrow; results to determine Biden`s future

• Americans vote on November 8, 2022 to elect all 435 representatives of the House and 35 of the 100seat Senate.
• These midterm elections are held near the midpoint of a president`s four year term in office. The results determine if the incumbent remains effective in the remaining two years of his tenure or becomes a lame-duck occupant of the White House.
• The Senate race is currently seen as a toss-up, as both Republican and Democratic candidates seem to have similar levels of support among voters. But recent polls indicate that Republicans may regain control of the House that they lost to Democrats in 2018.

• Fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi returned career-best figures of 4-22 to lead Pakistan into the Twenty20 World Cup semi-finals with a five wicket win over Bangladesh on a dramatic final day of group play at the Adelaide Oval.
• South Africa had crashed out of the tournament after a shock 13-run loss to the Netherlands earlier on Sunday which turned the clash into a virtual quarter-final. Shaheen produced an inspired spell of fast bowling to restrict Bangladesh to 127-8 before Pakistan achieved their target with 11 balls to spare and join arch-rivals India in the final four from Group 2.

10. Yadav helps India set up England semi-final

• Suryakumar Yadav hit a blazing unbeaten 61 as a proud India set up a Twenty20 World Cup semi-final against England by crushing Zimbabwe by 71 runs here at a packed Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on November 6, 2022.
• India were flying at 87-1 but the loss of three quick wickets slowed them down before Yadav set the proceedings alight, smashing six sixes in his 25-ball blitz to steer them to 186-5, with 79 coming off the last five overs.
• Zimbabwe lost two wickets for two runs in reply and were never in the hunt, capitulating in the 17th over in front of 82,507 fans.
