6. `Mother goddess` found in New York returning home to Pakistan

• More than 5,000 years` old figurines of the mother goddess from Mehrgarh were rescued from the basement of a New York art dealer. So was a relic showing Gautama Buddha meditating under the tree of awakening.
• The two are among 341 artefacts that US officials have recovered and handed over to Pakistani officials in New York since November 2020.

7. US-Asean pact to address `biggest issues of our time`, says US president

• Southeast Asian heads of government held talks on Saturday with visiting global leaders including US President Joe Biden, who hailed the launch of a new US-Asean pact as a critical step towards tackling `the biggest issues of our time` In his first visit to Southeast Asia as president, Biden said the region was at the heart of his administration`s Indo-Pacific strategy and Washington was committing resources, not just rhetoric, under a new Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
• `Together we will tackle the biggest issues of our time, from climate, to health security, to defend against the significant threat to the rule based order,` he said, opening a meeting in Cambodia with leaders of the 10-member Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
• `We will build an Indo Pacific that`s free and open, stable and prosperous, and resilient and secure,` he added. Asean is engaging a host of leaders, including Biden, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeoi

8. Democrats await Nevada election result that could seal their US Senate majority

• Democrats on November 12, 2022 were one seat away from majority control of the US Senate next year, as vote-counting in deeply-divided Nevada continued following Tuesday`s midterm elections and campaigning kicked off for a Dec 6 runoff in Georgia.
• If incumbent Democratic Senator Catherine Cortez Masto manages to fend off Republican Adam Laxalt in Nevada, her party would then control 50 of the Senate`s 100 seats.
• A Democratic victory in Georgia next month would then give the party outright majority control of a 51-49 Senate. A Democratic loss in Georgia and a win in Nevada would still put Democrats in charge of a 50-50 Senate, as Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris can break tie votes.
• The Senate currently is split 50-50 between Democrats and Republicans. The newly-elected Senate will be sworn in on Jan 3.

9. New Zealand`s Barclay re-elected ICC chairman

• Greg Barclay was Saturday reelected unopposed as independent chairman of the International Cricket Council after Zimbabwe`s Tavengwa Mukuhlani pulled out of contention.
• The former New Zealand Cricket boss succeeded Shashank Manohar in 2020 and retained the job for another two years with the board`s full support, the sport`s governing body said.
• `Over the last two years we have made significant strides forward with the launch of our global growth strategy that provides clear direction to build a successful and sustainable future for our sport,` said Barclay

10. Lewis, Prendergast shine as Ireland down Pakistan in first Twenty20

• The Ireland women`s cricket team beat Pakistan by six wickets in the opening match of the three-match Twenty20 International series here at the Gaddafi Stadium on November 12, 2022.
• The visitors, who were coming into the T20 series after a 3-0 drubbing in the ODIs, were boosted by a partnership between batters Gaby Lewis and Orla Prendergast, which saw Ireland chase down a 136-run target with an over to spare.
• Lewis and Prendergast combined for a second-wicket collaboration of 55 runs. Lewis smashed an unbeaten 69 off 54 balls with the help of nine boundaries while Prendergast made a 25-ball 39 to add to her three wickets with the ball
