Exports to European Union (EU) dipped by over 4.41 per cent in FY23 due to a slump in demand for Pakistani goods in Germany and the Netherlands.
The exports to the EU`s 27 member countries amounted to $8.188 billion during FY23 against $8.566bn in the preceding fiscal year, according to data compiled by the State Bank of Pakistan.

7. Sisi hosts Palestinian, Jordanian leaders to discuss Saudi-Israel ties

Egypt`s president on Monday welcomed the Palestinian and Jordanian leaders, Abdel Fattah al Sisi`s spokesman said, with a source adding they discussed speculations over Saudi Arabia moving to normalise ties with Israel.
Sisi met King Abdullah II of Jordan and Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas in the northern coastal city of El Alamein, Egyptian presidential spokesman Ahmed Fahmy said.
During a tripartite meeting, the leaders discussed `the development of the Palestinian cause` and expressed their support for a `two-state solution` to the Israeli Palestinian conflict with east Jerusalem as the future Palestinian capital, Fahmy said in a later statement

The Ukrainian military on Monday said it had pushed Russian forces out of pockets of territory along front lines in the east and south of the country, building on a gruelling counter-offensive launched two months ago.
The gains announced by Ukraine`s deputy defence minister came as Russia claimed its forces had progressed in the eastern Kharkiv region, undermining Kyiv`s highly anticipated campaign

Iranian security forces have arrested eight foreign suspects after detaining a gunman in the killing of one person at a shrine, authorities said on Monday.
The attack on the Shah Cheragh mausoleum in Shiraz, capital of Fars province in Iran`s south, came less than a year after a mass shooting at the same site later claimed by the militant Islamic State (IS) group.
`Eight people suspected of links with the terrorist attack… have been arrested,` according to the judiciary`s Mizan Online website, quoting Fars province chief justice Kazem Mousavi


10. New Covid vaccines on the way as `Eris` variant rises

A new Covid vaccine is due out next month, but health experts and analysts say it is likely to be coolly re ceived even as hospitalisations from `Eris`, a variant of the Omicron form of the coronavirus, rise around the country.
Some public health experts hope that Americans will welcome the new shot as they would a flu jab. But demand for the vaccine has dropped sharply since 2021 when it first became available and more than 240 million people in the US, or 73 per cent of the population, received at least one shot
