6. SBP reserves fall $686m in less than a month

The foreign exchange reserves of the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) slightly increased by $12 million to $8.055 billion during the week ended on Aug 11 against the previous trend of frequent declines since the first week of July.
The SBP reserves were $4.524bn on July 7, which jumped to $8.727bn after inflows from the IMF, Saudi Arabia and UAE.
However, the forex holdings of the central bank saw an outflow of $686m in less than a month despite tight control over imports

Fiscal Operations Data, released by the Ministry of Finance on Thursday, put the overall fiscal deficit at Rs6.521 trillion during FY23 (7.7pc of GDP)

Gun battles had raged on the streets of Tripoli from Monday night through Tuesday after 444 Brigade leader Mahmoud Hamza was apprehended by the rival Al Radaa Force.
Hamza `was released on Wednesday night and returned to his headquarters south of Tripoli`, an official at army headquarters in western Libya said

Iran`s top diplomat preached unity and dialogue during a visit to Saudi Arabia on Thursday, his first since the two Middle East rivals announced a surprise rapprochement in March.
Ties between Saudi Arabia and Iran `are progressing in the right direction,` Hossein Amir-Abdollahian told reporters at a press conference with his Saudi counterpart Prince Faisal bin Farhan, touting economic and security cooperation without announcing any new agreements
