6. Islamabad, Kabul in contact over militancy issue: official

With intelligence reports claiming that militants flee to Afghanistan after carrying out activities in Pakistan, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa counter-terrorism department has said Islamabad and Kabul are in contact with each other to address the issue.
`There is a state-to-state contact [between Pakistan and Afghanistan] to work out a solution [to escape of militants to Afghanistan]. Very serious negotiations are under way,` additional inspector-general and head of the CTD`s KP chapter Shaukat Abbas told reporters in response to a question during a briefing

Thousands of public employees in Indonesia`s capital, or half of its civil servants, were told to work from home starting on Monday in a two-month trial aimed at improving the city`s air quality, a government notice said.

Hundreds of firefighters struggled to contain wildfires fanned by gale force winds in several parts of Greece on Monday as authorities warned most regions faced a high risk of new blazes.
More than 200 firefighters backed by 17 aircraft were battling a wildfire burning for the third day near the northern port city of Alexandroupolis, where 13 communities were evacuated as a precaution since the fire broke out on Saturday, the fire brigade said

Eight fighters died on Monday in Russian air strikes targeting a rebel base in Syria`s northwest, the last major bastion of armed opposition to President Bashar al Assad`s rule, a war monitor said.
Moscow`s intervention since 2015 has helped Damascus claw back much of the territory it had lost to rebel forces early in the 12-year civil war, and Russian forces have repeatedly struck the Idlib area

Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) is more likely to augment than destroy jobs by automating some tasks rather than taking over a role entirely, a new study released on International Lab-our Organization (ILO) says.
The study, `Generative AIand Jobs: A global analysis of potential effects on job quantity and quality` released on Monday, suggests that most jobs and industries are only partly exposed to automation and are more likely to be complemented rather than substituted by the latest wave of Generative AI, such as chat GPT
