1. Sutlej flood recedes as water moves downstream
The flood level in Sutlej river has started to recede as it moved downstream from Bahawalpur on Tuesday.
The decline in water flow has been recorded after the river remained in a high-flood state for the past many weeks as India released water following heavy rains in its northern states.
On Tuesday, the water entered the settlements of Weaslan, Sahlan, Lal De Goth, Hasilpur and Khairpur Tamewali in Bahawalpur district and caused widespread destruction
2. Two more ministers inducted in cabinet
Two newly-inducted caretaker ministers took oath of their office here on Tuesday.
Governor Ghulam Ali administered the oath to them at a function held at the Governor`s House.
A statement issued from the Chief Minister`s House stated that Eng Amer Nadeem Durrani and Eng Ahmed Jan took oath as ministers.
Caretaker Chief Minister Mohammad Azam Khan and other cabinet ministers also attended the event
3. PM Kakar to attend 78th UNGA session
Interim Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar plans to attend the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), which opens on September 5, Dawn has learnt.
If the trip materialises, Mr Kakar will apparently be the first interim prime minister to represent Pakistan at the UN General Assembly.

4. 16-member national health, population advisory body formed
On the directions of health minister Dr Nadeem Jan, a 16-member National Health and Population Advisory Committee was on Tuesday constituted to deal with health and population related technical matters and reforms.
The committee is chaired by Professor Dr Zulfiqar Ali Bhutta and comprises Dr Amjad Saqib, Dr Kaleemullah Thaheem, Dr Waqar Ajmal, Professor Shamsullah Bazai, Dr Arshad Rehan, Professor Dr Masud Sadiq, Dr Rana Jawad Asghar, Dr Juman Bahoto, Dr Haroon Jahangir Khan, Professor Dr Hameedullah, Dr Shehzad Ali Khan, Dr Malik Mohammad Safi, Dr Yasmin Qazi, Dr Nabila Ali and Dr Baseer Khan Achakzai, who is also Director General Ministry of National Health Services (NHS).Dr Achakzai, while talking to Dawn, said prominent figures having experience in all important fields had been inducted into the committee
5. Relief secretary to be made PDWP`s permanent member
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa caretaker government has decided to appoint the secretary of the relief, rehabilitation and settlement department as a permanent member of the provincial development working party.
The decision was made during the eighth meeting of the caretaker cabinet here as a `significant step towards enhancing disaster preparedness and risk reduction measures in the province,` according to an official statement.
The cabinet also designated the additional deputy commissioner (relief) as a permanent member of the district development committee
